looks like it might be perfect for 3gun. anyone know how it would align w/ a larue aimpoint mount?
also, how about a website? |
The very first run will be like this. It may not look so big in person. I will update when I get my first ones in next week. |
I have no ide if it will alighn with a LaRue. I know that it is the same height as an Aimpoint twist mount with spacer. If that will work with LaRue, this will as well. www.samson-mfg.com/3xMAG.htm |
The LT mounts are higher than the ARMS #22M68 and full spacer. I believe that Samson was talking about making spacers for this mount? C4 |

Where did the little 3 poxer scope come from? I am not familiar with it? Does it make the aimpoints dot bigger in appearance? I have been thinking about switching to an aimpoint but I have also been looking for a small scope. This might be the anwser.

It is the Aimpoint 3X magnifier. C4 www.gandrtactical.com |

Lol man where have you been? The Aimpoint 3x magnifier has been out for a few months now
I guess some of the members don't live on ARFCOM... What's up with that? The 3x magnifier does increase the size of the dot, but in proportion to the sight picture (everything is 3x.) I have been using an Aimpoint M3 with the 2MOA dot with the magnifier and I like it a lot. We had a "demo day" for some local LEOs and we sold or took deposits on every combo we brought out. Nice guys that we are, we are offering a full refund on any twist mount that our customers purchased if they would like to exchage for the Quick Flip. I don't think that the Quick Flip is for everybody. But, neither is an Aimpoint twist mount, or a LaRue. Bottom line is you guys have options. The Quick Flip is just one more option you have. EDITED There no spacers planned. The QF will only work with mil-spec mounts. |

Is there a detent or something that "locks" the mount in the "flipped open" position, or when flipped to the side is the optic bouncing around against the side of the receiver/shell deflector?
If flipped to the right, is the optic going to be hit by ejected brass? How do you flip the mount, with a lever of some sort (I assume)? Is that a spring in the mount? Is the mount under some spring tension? How does the mount attach to the receiver - throw-lever or screw? Looking forward to your review. |

Me too! |

Thanks for the answers. This is starting to sound very interesting to me.

Well duffy I just recently started thinking about replacing my eotech. I am looking at possibly something with magnification. Us mere patrol officers dont get the trijcons and so forth some peeps do
Grant, talons rus thanks. It seems really great. Thats only two weeks take home salary for a site, 3x mag and mounts.. Yeah kids cancel Christmas and it will be bologna for luunc and brown beans for the rest of the year |
Keep in mind that the Aimpoint 3x magnifier will work with your EOTech. You can get just a 3x and a mount. Don't cancel Christmas! |
Sorry Oki I wasn't making fun of you, just a little friendly jabbing
I use my 3x magnifier with both Aimpoints and EOTech. I recently moved the 3x + EOTech to my HK weapon because I went back to ACOGs. The sight picture is small, and the FOV is narrow compared to a 4x ACOG. It does give the Aimpoint and EOTech some new found capabilities at the expense of additional weight and bulk. If I were stuck using Aimpoint or EOTech, I'd consider the 3x a necessity. |
Duffy I was ribbing you back. Ifigured you swat guys could take it.

I got my right flip Quick Flip today. I am going to post pics tomorrow.
All I can say is this thing freaking rocks! Anybody want to buy a slightly used, looks brand new twist mount? If you run a magnifier, you are going to love this thing. Time from magnified to un-magnified: .2 seconds to .25 seconds Time from un-magnifed to magnifed: .5 seconds to .6 seconds Does the magnifier flop around? Hell NO! it closes so easy, but it does not flop one bit when it is open. I gotta get to the range.... |
I am coming to you live from Mikeska's BBQ in Columbus, Tx. on the Talon Arms laptop because I could not wait to post this.
The offical word on the Quick Flip is: It's da BOMB! We set the 3x and Quick Flip on a new Sabre M4 "style" upper and used an Aimpoint M2 in an ARMS #22M68 mount with a cantilever spacer. I meant to bring the M3 2 MOA, but left it in my other gear bag. This turned out to be a good thing. I have been using the 3x in a Twist Mount with the M3 and I know it works well. I was worried that the 4 MOA dot would be to big to use on targets out to 200 yards. As it turns out, the dot did not lookthat big. I was expecting the dot to completely cover the head of an IPSC sized steel plate at 100 yards. It acctually was just shy of covering it. On to the quick flip. The ARMS #17 locks it down tight as you would expect. The Quick Flip is designed to use the #17 as a quick and easy way to remove your 3x when you know you don't need it. This would be the same as using a twist mount. Where this thing really excels is the flip lever. When you need the 3x it is there, But when you need it out of the way, it is instantly clear of the M2 and with the right flip, clear of your weak eye on a right handed shooter. I had posted earlier that I am able to flip it out of theway in.25 seconds. When I was running dry fire drills with no vertical grip and holding onto the magwell, that was true, Today when I went to a Tango Down VG during live fire drills, that time increased to around .5 seconds. So, I modified my technique. When engaging targets at 100 yards and out, I used the vertical grip. When transitionaing to "indoors, I moved my weakhand to the magwell, hit the lever, engaged any immediate threats and transitioned back to the VG. It worked great for me, YMMV. Michael chose to transition from magnified to unmagnified from the VG only. This technique worked well for him. I will post pics soon with the QF and 3x from the range. I do not recall any of the ejected shell caasing hitting the magnifier. If they did, they did not leave a mark onit. |
Thanks for the review!
When you post more pics, can you post one of the other side? I'd like to see the release lever, thanks! |
any update on when the spacer for larue mounts will be available?
Here are the pics:
In the locked up position Fliped flipping the lever with my thumb. pushing it back with my finger muzzel side view View through the magnifier with a 4 MOA dot. The dot looks a little bigger here. I turned up the brightness for the picture flipped right same image fliped right. This is closer to the field of view you would acctually see. The magnifier is out of the way completely. side view Find them in the EE HERE |

Two quick notes
#1 Samson is building a ton of these to go to Iraq and Afghanistan. There will be no spacers made for any non-milspec hight mounts in the forseeable future. #2 The "billboard" is only on the demo units. The production Quick Flips will have a smaller logo and it will be engraved prior to anodizing. #3 production Quick Flips are shipping in two weeks. You can order now and we won't charge untill they ship. If you don't have a 3x magnifier yet, we can get you a package deal. See our ad in the EE. |

Why does the moulding on the side of the 3x Magnifier have AIMPOINT moulded into it?
What other choices of mounts are available? I don't like the idea of flipping the magnifier over to the side. Hinges break. |
Maybe I need to clarify the purpose of the quick flip. MOST of the time, the magnifier is mounted, it will be locked in the up right position. And MOST of the time when you do not want magnification, you will remove the mount and magnifier completely. The flip feature is for removing magnification from the sight picture as fast as possible. The Soldiers overseas who have them think they are great and they can't wait to get more. It's not a perfect system. Quite frankly, nothing is. But this system of Aimpoint sight, 3x magnifier and quick flip give you more options than anything else available. We do sell Aimpoint twist mounts as a less expensive and non-hinged option. |

THAT is a good looking rifle! How do you get drool out of a keyboard? |
I could not have said it better myself... |
Get a CQT. That thing is just a cheap alternative to a power ring that costs a lot more.
While the Aimpoint plus magnifier does sort of the same thing as the CQ/T, its pretty hard to compare the two in my view. |
