I ask this because I'd like to convert a cast AR15 lower in 5.56 to a 9mm weapon.
Yes I know its cheaper/better to buy a forged milled 9MM lower but this is a cast EA registered machinegun lower. I'd like to do a DOE replica.
I don't want to screw it up.

To summarize.....

Don't utilize bolt catch(last round hold open).
Use the right bolt/buffer
Possibly use ss pins or kns pins.

You should be fine

But to answer your question, yes, the 9mm blowback operation puts more stress on the lower.  Specifically on the hammer and trigger pins.

My understanding is it has to do if the bolt carrier is "ramped" or not.

I have a OLY system on a RR16 and it works great. Never have and any issues (and I do not use KNS pins).

LOVE the ability to just switch upper and I'm back to 556.
