CAA Flashlight Grip Adapter
The new FGA combines a light mount (0.98-1.1") and vertical grip into one unit and accommodates push button end cap flashlights. A thumb activated on/off push button is featured and incorporates both an intermittent and constant on position. A side safety switch has been added to prevent inadvertent activation of the flashlight during covert activities. The FGA also features a storage compartment with a screw cap base for holding a small cleaning kit or for extra batteries. Two rubber pressure switch covers with honeycombed inserts allow for customized pressure switch sizing. One 1.5” Picatinny rail is included that attaches to either side or bottom of the light mount to allow the addition of an accessory such as a laser. Thumbnuts allow for easy mounting onto a Picatinny rail, even while wearing gloves. ORDER BEFORE 2008 PRICE INCREASE EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1st!!! I just watched the Animation, pretty cool.
ETA: So does the light just slide in and is locked in place or does it screw in place (removing the tailcap)? |
does that thing come with a 40 watt plasma rifle too?
thats a pretty neat light mount |
The flashlight actually slides into place and is held there by tightening the front screw. This allows numerous 1" style flashlights to be accommodated. |
hahaha i think we are throwing in the phased plasma pulse rifle for an additional $5 fee. Thanks for the possitive comments guys. Hope you check out the new light mount, feel free to drop us any questions you might have. |

Looks like a promising and versatile product. I like the features you've encorporated, especially the different switch/actuation options!

No we have not tried any Pentagon lights in our FGA mount. I looked online and noticed that a some of the barrel sizes of the lights were 1.25" (too big for FGA). I am also unsure about the tail end design of these flashlights fitting into the FGA. Could it be similar to the Pelican design? |
That's a handsome product that really shines when compared to more expensive stuff.
Thanks. thats the idea, give you guys a functional product that doesn't cost an arm, leg, paycheck. That way you can spend more on our other products!
Will this work with a flashlight that uses a pressure switch, or are those pressure switch plates only for the laser?
Thanks |
Yes you can use a flashlight with an existing pressure switch. There is a gap in the back that allows the switch to come through and be used. |
Is the only switch on the rear of the grip when using a light with a tailcap or do the switches on the side activate the light as well?
The switch in the rear of the grip activates the light's tailcap. Or if you have a pressure switch utilized you can use the honeycombed slots. The button on the side is a safety on/off switch. It prevents the light from being turned on. Check out the 3D movie (link is at top of the page). |

That's what I thought, but I wanted to be sure. Is it possible for the police department I work for to get one for 30-60 days for T&E?
Sure send me your info and i will get it set up. i send out all the T&E stuff for the most part.
email or call me. Adam Denard [email protected] 267-803-1517 x 103 |

Just FYI on the Pentagon lights... Most of their hand-helds are 1", and there is a "low profile" replacement tailcap available that is round. I think CAA and Calvin of "BrightFlashlights" would be a match made in heaven! He's the flashlight Guru, and where quite a few AR15.com members go for our illumination needs. |
Ok well if thats the case and if you replace the tailcap with the 'low profile' version, you should be good to go! I will let my boss know about Calvin of BrightFlashlights, we are looking around for a prefect fit for the FGA. Thanks for the heads up! |

Just my opinion, but I think that's the coolest thing I've seen you guys come up with. I'll definitely be picking one up in the future.
In the picture with the G2, is the flashlight inserted as far as it will go? I'd like to see the light recess into the mount a little further, but I'm not sure if it's possible with out boogering up the ergonomics. |
Hey thanks for the compliment olds! Means alot! About the Surefire, yes that is the correct depth (inserted all the way), it was designed so it could also accommodate the short stubby style flashlights. In my opinion i think those look/work awesome. We currently have one set up with a NOVATAC ECD series 1x3.3 inches. Its freaking sweeeet! Plus the light has a ton of excellent features to boot. |

I ordered one yesterday. Got an e-mail today saying they were out of stock.
Yeah, I ordered one too and got the same out-of-stock email Always wonder why companies advertise a product that is not available. I guess to steer someone way from the competition but seems to have the opposite effect with me.
Hey CommandArms01, any idea when these will be available??? stumo |
Hey guys sorry about the OUT OF STOCK response. We wanted to get the word out about the new product. They will be here in less than 10 days. Thats why we put them up on the site, maybe i should have written that they were coming soon or will be in stock shortly. Sorry if it deterred any of you, it definitely wasn't my purpose. Hope you will forgive me. |
10 days ain't no biggie.
Thanks CommandArms01 for the informative and prompt response. Looking forward to trying the new grip out. The big pluses for me are no wired switches needed for just the light, and the fact everything is inline and under the barrel allowing flatter storage in case. Having the light beam in line with the barrel, even if it is below, is a plus too. Thanks, stumo |
Hey no problem whatso ever. When you get your gear feel free to let me know how it goes! |
Ya' know, hell would have frozen over before I spent $500 on the other guys model.
This, however, looks to be a hell of a bargain. I really like that thumb operated on/off switch in the back. |
As a dealer on AR15.com that carrys all the CAA products, here's more info. This mount is not out yet, its not sold out, it just isnt available yet. Also once it is out I will have it in the EE boards at the best pricing possible. I still dont understand why Ar15.com members dont check the EE boards for their needs before ordering from the sites. In pretty much all cases the EE boards are cheaper, faster, you support the little guy, and you know immediatly if the items is in stock or not.
I talked to them on the phone they said not in time for Christmas. I asked if they could put there gripod in it. They said probably abd that they had received other inquires. I think that would be the neatest thing since slice bread. CAA are you listening???
Listening? huh? haha of course, we are always listening . i do agree that a combination of the two items would be something out of this world. I will keep you guys posted. The FGA will be here and ready to be sent out before Christmas. Someone on our end must have been misinformed but i usually have the scoop on whats going on. Like the Tic said be sure to check out the EE boards for some great pricing on our products. |

THE FGA ARRIVES THURSDAY!!! GET YOUR ORDERS IN NOW!
CAA would also like to wish everyone a Safe and Happy Holiday Season Check out our website www.commandarms.com for special holiday pricing |
Thanks for the update CommandArms01. I'm looking foward to receiving my order.
I think you guys knocked the ball outta da park with the design of this one. Merry Christmas, stumo |
I'd love to get one of these as I've been looking at them since they were first put on the site. Unfortunately, I have a pretty much stock carbine that doesn't have a railed forearm. How do you think it would do with one of those 2" picatinny rail sticks?
I would recommend getting our PRA/PRB depending upon your type of handguard, they are pretty inexpensive. They are about 6" long and give you more mounting position options. Standard Handguard or Thick handguard check em out! |
You can also go this route with a great CAA product sold on the EE boards

No update from the CAA poster? OK a CAA dealer will update instead.
I called CAA this AM about my FGA order . CAA is already sold out of the FGA. I have 10 in route to me with 5 to 7 already sold. If your havent ordered or your order is a back order, your back order with CAA may take a little while. There is a second issue with ALL the FGAs shipped out. In their haste to get the grips shipped out they didn't notice that the grips were missing the Allen bolts to mount the small rails on the sides of the light mount. Those Allen bolts will be coming from Israel, during the holidays and have to clear customs etc so it could be anywhere between 1 and 4 weeks before they arrive. The grips will still work as a light mount, or so i am told, but you will not be able to mount a laser or second light to it until the other parts arrive. I will ship out the FGA as soon as they come in but they will be missing the Allen bolts for the extra rails. I will mail them separately as soon as I get them. Any questions email me. Derek |

Great write up and pictures Martens. I'm looking forward to receiving my and doing an evaluation as well.
stumo |

I've played with it alot over the weekend and have since turned it over to the next officer to try. Here are some more of my observations:
The battery compartment has a taper to it and batteries can get stuck in the grip. Once I got them out, I put a long piece of foam in first to "spring load" the batteries and all is good now. I am glad I found this out now rather than out in the dark somewhere. If they make a gen 2, I would really like to see it hold three batteries and I would probably run a 9v light then. I've played with the FGA more since the first post and am really starting to like it. I can activate the switch with several different area of the thumb/web of the hand so finding one that is comfortable shouldn't be a problem. It is pretty well ambidextrous other than the cross bolt safety but it works well with either hand. I like that the gripping surface is lower than the rail than the Tango Down grip. It seems like both the front and rear grip now are more on the same plane and it made it more comfortable for me. The grip is very very comfortable. I of course would like to see CAA mold it in OD and tan at least. I've taken the grip on and off several times and it doesn't seem to be showing any wear in the plastic. I am not sure if the storage compartment will be waterproof as I haven't seen an o ring or other seal yet. The removeable grip panels look like the will fit pressure switches nicely and enough below the surface that you won't accidently hit the light. There is enough room at the rear of the light mount to sneak a pressure switch through if you run a light with a pressure switch. I actually tried mounting a pressure switch and the set up is pretty slick. The cord runs out the back of the light mount area and to either side of the VFG. The removeable grip panels have a plastic spacer under the rubber panels. Remove the spacer and replace it with your tape switch, assuming it is anyway close to the right size, and replace. The flexible grip panels are slotted to keep the switch in place. My switch fit and it was a pretty nice setup. It was not going any where and had just enough resistance that accidental light activation should not be a problem. Had I kept it this way, I would have had to clearance out the top of the grip for my chord as it was thicker than the opening. I think they have a good product. Comparing price to my current setup the CAA lists for $59.95 and I have $71 in my grip, $20 in my mount, and $35 in my switch (to give me constant on capability) for a total of $126. If I had not had my money spent already, I would be looking to by one of these in OD. With either setup I can't mount my bipod with the light in place so that is a wash for both. I did not play with the accessory rail but it was nice that it was included although I could never see a need for it for me. If I wanted to mount something else I would just put it on my rails somewhere. If you were using this grip on a gun without quad rails, then it may be of some use for you. |

My boss is currently in Israel, I will find out an approximate date from him ASAP. When i find out ill repost :) |
