Hmm . . . turbo and intercooler upgrade for the car or Hydra?  I guess I'm lucky to have "problems" like these

The "super bolts" are being developed along with the .308 kit with the M14 magwell.
Once we get that project ready for market, we'll then be looking at providing the "super bolts" in the other bolt face sizes.

We'll shortly be providing a normal bolt with improved firing pin arrangement for the 7.62x39, that provides more reliable ignition with Wolf. That should be coming along quite soon.

How soon do you expect to come out with the new 7.62x39 bolt? The reason I ask is because I just purchased a carrier and bolt from MGI for an AR 47 build that’s not done yet. I had the carrier milled for my RLL, but have not decided on an upper yet. I’m considering an MGI upper, but first I need to find out what the cost is to mill a standard upper to fit the AK mags.

Understood.  That's why I am "waiting patiently."  I could have bought the Oly K9GL already, but I think your's is worth the wait.

I am interested in the gas operated pistol caliber solution.  That's actually why I haven't bought any of the components yet.  I'm still wondering about the bolt/bolt carrier, etc.

They should be in pretty soon.

Where did you get the carrier?
I don't recall speaking with you.

I ordered from the MGI web site 6/11/07, I was just thinking that I could send this bolt back and wait for the new one to come out. I still need to decide on an upper and when I get one send it out to be milled. So it could be awhile.

Updates my good man?

I would love to test a 9mm Glock magwell with my RDIAS for you!

Also would like to try out your buffer. Can I order from you or must I order from the site?

Thanks!

1 - Changing calibers - is the entire upper being changed or are there quick barrel/BCG change options with the magwell?

2 - I'm very interested in a .308 as well as 6.5 Grendel, how far away are those 2 calibers?

Thank you -

When you say by just changing barrels, is this like a crew serve weapon where the barrel can be quick disconnect and put on or are tools required? Same q for the 6.5 grendel barrel

Anyone know who will do the mill work, needed clearance to allow a standard AR upper to use AK mags. I checked with M60joe and he passed on it, any other suggestions ?
I have all the needed pics and info saved on my pc.

I'm looking for a company that offers a dedicated .22lr barrel and modified Ciener kit that would work in a CQB-C upper.

The idea is to have a barrel that will fit the CQB-C have the proper 1/16 twist for .22lr and eliminate the need for the chamber extension on the Ciener.

Spikes Tactical offers a dedicated upper with the setup I'm hoping to use.  But I don't know if the barrel will work in the CQB-C.  Here is a Link

I'm also going to ask Spikes Tactical if I can get just the barrel and modified Ciener and what I need to install it on a CQB-C or standard upper.

Very handsome and versatile package, Steezo!

Or...

Where did this customer pick up the .22lr setup?

It's nice to see all the discussion on these lowers from MGI. Although I'm fairly (O.K., REALLY) new to this board, I've been a C3 dealer for many many years. I've had the good fortune of meeting Mack and becoming friends with him at Knob Creek. I made a special request for a particular configuration of a lower, and as far as I know it's the only one ever produced. It also happens to be the FIRST production unit of the new forged line, serial number 10000!huge

Hi Tom,

Not to put you on the spot too much, but could you post a guesstimate as to availability dates of new BC, bolts, and M14 magwell. I got the Feb 2008 for the M14 (!), but don't see dates for the rest. I am buying LMT EBCG's right now.

You best guesses, please.

Also, I have been looking for a source of 7.62x39 barrels, found some (courtesy of raptor22) at Numrich. Colt match. Bought one, will post on how it looks and works. Gas port location is tbd, no threads. Has extension. If it looks good I will buy a couple more. So the improved 7.62x39 bolt is increasingly important for me.

I got a couple myself.  Not chrome liined though but still its Colt.
Been trying to get gas piston operation working with my 11.5" 7.62x39 upper and the MGI setup.  My MGI setups work flawlessly in 7.62x39 in 7.5 and 11.5" w/ direct gas just not the piston.
My last attempt for a gas piston 7.62x39 will be w/ the Colt 16" barrel.
I'm really happy with the direct gas, I'm just a tinkerer.
BTW, the ARES kit works great for me in 5.56 which is what it was designed for in the first place.

Amphibian, have you tried a muzzle attachment like a krinkov / Novesky muzzle brake or a suppressor on the 11.5" barrel.  Something to boost the back pressure/ dwell time of the gas against the piston ?  Another possible would be to take the $1.00 buffer spring and trim a few coils off of it until it runs but then that buffer spring would only be good for that particular upper.

Ha, funny you mention that, I've already thought about that.  I've got Krinkov boosters but only for 5.45/5.56.  I was going to order a 7.62 one just for this purpose.
I don't want to try drilling out my existing ones.
But since I do have a 16" Colt barrel, my plan was to try this first and if I am successful, I was planning on doing the Krinkov booster.
I figured if it didn't work w/ the 16" barrel that I already have, I'm not going to spend the money on a 7.62 booster.

Just to let you know the new 7.62x39 bolt and pin are working perfect, now if I could only say the same about my upper, long story short I wish I would have gone with an MGI upper. The bolt and pin did not miss a beat in over 300 rounds today Thanks MGI.

I don't know if its been asked but.

Anyone tossing the idea of a longer upper to mate with longer magwells.  (.308 with hold open, .30-06, exc.)

I'm already tinkering with a mag fed .50 upper on paper that uses the MGI lower.  Pretty much all I need is a Anzio Iron Works light 50 without the FCG, add the "dovetail" to the back magwell, chop the rear of the pper receiver and profile it to fit the lower, make sure the bolt clears the inside of the buffer tube, and add a stud for the rear take down pin.

But with all the one off stuff Anzio does I bet they would make it for me if I send the specs.

Now off to Home Depot to mock it up in PVC.

Tell then here is a crummy photochop.

I might need to lathe the bolt to fit the buffer and machine a adapter to make a smooth looking transition between the .50 receiver and MGI lower.  Thats why I'm mocking up the LW50 receiver tube in PVC.  If I can carve it in plastic someone could machine the metal.
