A 181XXX serial number isn't a 1980 vintage,is it? My 157xxx SP-1 carbine was made in 1982.
Very nice rifle,though. |

That's why I said approximately Probably 1983-84 Seems serial #'s after 1979 are difficult to pin down accurately I am a Colt direct dealer and this SP1 is in my personal collection Easy enough for me to call my contacts in Colt Archives and try to pinpoint exact date of manufacture I will post results after speaking with Colt Archives In any event,I feel very lucky to have found an early SP 1 New in Original Box I have other SP 1's but this is the only Unfired New SP 1 I have run across in a very long time..and I deal almost exclusively in Colts, antique and modern and specialize in SAA's and 1911's but handle many Colt AR's early and current |

Sorry, the serial number on my SP-1 is 157xxx.

here's my sp1 carbine. I've had it maybe 20 years, and it's about as plain jane as they come.http://i840.photobucket.com/albums/zz327/T00lmanii/coltcarbine.jpg
and here's a couple 80% lowers and machining jig plates I made up. Hopefully, I'll post some pics as I move along on a retro project.http://i840.photobucket.com/albums/zz327/T00lmanii/rec802.jpg and here's a pic of my Colt scope. I don't know if it's considered retro or not. I bought it new, years ago.http://i840.photobucket.com/albums/zz327/T00lmanii/coltscope1.jpg |
