That is one seriously unattractive upper, however, looks are subjective.  I would be interested in one simply because they were SAS items.  


The newer variants are much better looking even though they are MLOK.  

The clone nobody can afford thread. I'd like one for the novelty of it, but could never afford one. A lot like most optics I can't own. The way the rails are only at the front reminds me of the tri-rail they put on the older models.

I wouldn't say that at all as it is an apples and oranges comparison in my mind.   Regarding MLOK, it is just a dimension and spec, it isn't a rail or anything else.  I have seen great looking MLOK rails, and have I have seen some that I thought were horrid.  

At some point, someone could and probably will use MLOK in something other than firearms.  Think skate helmets, or something like that.  IMHO, Magpul should have a team of people who do nothing but work concepts and Magpul technology with OTW (Other Than Weapon) companies.  If you think of MLOK the same way you think of Velcro or "Hook and Loop", you start to see my shift in thinking.  Why not MLOK on bikes for lights?  Why not on vehicles for optional mounting equipment?  Why isn't MLOK featured in the new COD as part of the building process?  


There is a reason I have a lot of friends in the industry, and it isn't for thinking inside the box.     Hopefully that helps clarify things for you.
