You must have gotten yours at Fernandina because the crew at Farrow told me mine was the last one they had in stock. I got there around 11:00 a.m. Nice score on the front strap serrations; I was hoping mine would come with it. |

Got mine as well, in carbon. Gonna need slight tightening on the frame rails. .002" is just too big of a gap!

Is there any markings on the left side of the slide? I have only seen pics of the right side so far.

Any know who make this 1911 frame, slide and the barrel that is on sale.

In the other thread someone went with the Remington beaver tail, which is for commander triggers. It fit apparently with little modification. Good to know.
And nice work...now come show me what you did. |

And nice work...now come show me what you did. To be honest I watched a whole lot of you tube videos and searched google till my fingers bled. I peened my frame tonight, was so nervous on taking that first swing of a hammer that i didn't hit it nearly hard enough. Nor the second, nor the third.....then I grew a pair. Took me about 10 minutes, but I eliminated the up and down movement and I can still get the slide on the frame. Now it is really tight, but not so tight that I can't move the slide on the frame. It is just where I wanted it so now I can lap it. I had a metal finishing sandpaper pad that I used on it just to see what would happen, it might have smoothed it a little. The peening really took up the movement that I had, and I am really happy with how easy (yet nerve racking) it was. |

Nice work. Fun huh? Looks really sharp so far. I just inventoried my 1911 tools, jigs, and stones because of your pics.
GL and take your time guys. |

So the consensus is these are cut for a commander style grip safety? I'm getting ready to order some parts to start fitting, the beaver tail being one of them. I was planning on using an Ed Brown.

OP did you have to blend the end of the slide at all? in the other thread someone had a picture of the slide being long by a good bit on the end.
1911 looks really nice, waiting on my slide to show up so I can start a little at a time.... |

The end of the slide matches up pretty nicely with the rear of the frame. I might have got lucky in that respect, I guess. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v197/panzersergeant/Palmetto%20State%20Armory/PSA%201911%20AND%20AR15%20040%20800x600_zps8guc3aoz.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Looks good, my psa frame is still at the FFL but the slide made it safely in the mail. How come you only had their logo etched into the right side?

OP - did you get sights for your PSA-11 yet? did you shoot it?
|
|
|
|
Looks great. Enjoy extractor tuning. I'd rather watch 6 hours of Henry Kissingers stand up comedy routine.
|

Those look like suppressor height sites....nice! I got my Ed Brown rebuild kit in yesterday (all pins and springs) and the WC checkered front strap. It is pretty sweet for being a $10 add on.

My Ed Brown trigger took a lot of fitting and I had to use emery paper to sand the inside of the trigger slot lip because there were a good amount of burs that scratched up the sides of the trigger. The mainspring housing and mag release required no fitting. I am stuck right now since I don't have a plunger tube install tool yet and the only gun smiths in my area are about 2 hours away and wouldn't get around to it for a few days after dropping it off. Guess Ill have to buy the tool and pass it along cheap to someone else here
|
|
anyone that gets the tool and wants to loan it out im up, will need one myself,
I have to order some parts after the 15th trying to recoup after race and parts I already picked up. and OP that PSA-11 came out really nice, I am looking at grips for mine, thinking about some cobra knock offs like sly had in that movie. |

I made one from a $2.00 c-clamp and a sheet metal screw. It's not pretty but it works.
