Grabbed a Mosin off the weekly email. My first one. Hope it's not a total POS.

Yeah, when I ordered my two they had somewhere around 140ish, I think.
i was trying to upload my new c&r and there where 31 left. i still cant get my c&r to load up and they are now long gone. i guess ill buy some mags.
Snagged a project m44 after seeing what mags came in. I hope the one I get has a stock that looks like it fell off the back of a T34 and rolled down a cliff, but with a slilky smooth action and a bore so bright my wife can do her hair in the reflection.
In on a m44 i have a mint one already and bought a t53 from aim a few months ago. .But this is to get my c&r going.

I especially liked the line in the description of the Mosins "Each includes a FREE liberal coating of preservative cosmoline grease." I'll have to stock up mineral spirits.

So far nothing broken or missing, but the stocks are 'well used', both of the have surface rust, with one having some pitting under the wood. I've already got them in their mineral spirits bath. |
pics? Mine wont come in until tomorrow and I will be out of town... But my CMP Garands are waiting at FEDEX!
Anxious to see what mine will look like. Hopefully I'll get a call from the shop tomorrow.

You all faired better than I did. Mine came with a broken front sight hood, missing trigger spring, missing extractor. I went through all the cleaning and determined there was a major blockage at the muzzle end. I then looked at the chamber and behold a casing still jammed into the chamber with the primer drilled out. I'm guessing Ivan had a squib round, didn't notice, fired another, and the pressure of the blocked barrel ballooned out the case jamming it into the chamber, and then with all Ivan's might he sheared off the extractor try to remove it. So the whole barrel and action is currently submerged in mineral spirits in hopes to break it free. I do not see any bulging in the barrel anywhere, but "if" I get it cleared out there will be a lot of inspection before I even consider putting a round through it.

Damn KMS, that does suck! I need to start cleaning mine to make sure I'm not missing anything else.

Picked up my M44. Haven't looked it over very well yet but somewhere there is a crate with a butt load of front sights in it.
Mine has a small crack in the stock, missing the leaf spring for the sight, and the trigger spring/bolt stop (whatever you want to call it). I should have picked up another for the price. I can't seem to find any M44 leaf springs for sale anywhere though.
Got mine. No missing parts so far and none of the numbers match. Rust with pitting on the top of the receiver and under the handguard/stock. The stock is cracked and field repaired on the heel, just needs to be redone to tighten it up. So far so good for the price. Have a project to mess with and debating trying to learn how to refinish on this one. Bore did have a small rock in it that came out with all of the cosmoline. Right now I have parts soaking and buffed some of the rust spots.

I was out o of town last week so I had to scheduled a will call for mine. Can't wait to get home with it to check out out.
So i get home at 4am and anticipating the worst i was super happy to see a very nice rifle . Looks like it was cleaned up slightly since i didn't need gloves to handle it, bore was clean of any cosmoline. Bolt was only non matching number, and other than a cracked stock the 45 izzy looked great |
Both 1945 Izzy seem fully functional and complete. Both bores are not counter-bored and seem to have very strong rifling.
Rifle 1 metal was decent with some rust and pitting. Bolt was SMOOTH even full of cosmo. Stock was rough and it was missing a large section of the left hand side. Exactly what I thought a project grade would be. Rifle 2 metal was covered in about 50% rust and pitting. Bolt was rough and needs cleaning to operate. Stock was fairly decent. |
