Based on the seller's location and the channel names programmed into the radio, the last 5 I got were from Texas.  Many of the channel names started with DFW and there was one labeled Tyler SO.  The ebay seller I bought those from still is selling them in lots of five and not many are bidding on them as they are unknown condition with no batteries of charger.  I snagged five radios for $62 and they all worked.  For batteries, I bought some batteries that would not charge for $10 each and rebuilt them with new cells.

Considering that these radios are P25 capable and front panel programmable, they are an awesome value at the price they are selling for.

4 UHF Saber

3 Saber Convertacom
1 UHF System Saber (programmed up as conventional only)
1 VHF DeskTrac Repeater
1 UHF DeskTrac Repeater  ( The desktracs do not use their internal controller as it does not have a ID function.  I interfaced ID-O-Matics instead)

Plus an old 486 for programming, knockoff RIB, programming cables, etc.

Thales:
7 VHF Racal P25

Thats just what I have operational, I have an whole shelf of random radios that I acquired over the years that I haven't looked at yet.

USMS offloaded quite a few. I've been trying to collect codeplugs from them for freq info.

I  Really thought the Mx series were the best , aside from the limited prom and the necessity of a suitcase to program them.
For a 2m mobile I am currently using a 100 watt /\/\ mcs-2000 . Handheld its a XTS3000 Vhf, which is great since work has provided extras. I still have EPH's LPH's syntor x9000, Spectras and several SM50's

One of the things I got the ability to do at my internship this summer was design a TRBO system for a new building (I didn't have any say in that part as /\/\ is the only DMR dealer for several hundred miles). I recommended the SL line of radios though for the 20 portables they are gonna hand out.

I have to get some better pictures of the equipment before posting it here but in the early 80s a company from Oceanside, CA - Cubic Communications - brought out something they termed the Cubic Kilowatt. It featured rack mount versions of their Astro 150 HF ham transceiver, 1500Z amplifier, ST-2 antenna tuner and PSU-7/FP-7 power supply/phone patch. Only 20 complete sets were built and these were sold by N&G Distributing of Miami, marketed for use as a general purpose HF fixed station. Cubic also made a commercial/diplomatic use HF SSB transceiver - Astro D - and the rack mount version of one of those also sits in my equipment rack.

All the stuff was fully restored by me and came from different Kilowatt combos. I've since managed to locate two more of them but haven't bought either.

ITT Mackay Marine 3031A and 3030AR receivers can be found in said rack. Would love to find a nice 3041A version as it matches the Cubics.

I"m sitting here remembering my HT1000 with the car amp/adapter back in the FD days.....

But I'm left wondering what and why I'd need one today?  I'm a 1 or 2 repeater kinda guy (2m and 440) favoring the 70cm repeater.

what am I missing?

Can't legally use MURS on a Baofeng. Plus, HT1000's are pretty much indestructible. Plus you can bit-flip the 2ch models to 16. Did I mention they're Hamsexy?

ETA Thought if finally post my collection, by order of acquisition.

The first radio I'd ever bought, a VHF Saber MIII low power, a VHF 5100 fully decked out with a blown receiver, a UPRR VHF MT2000, VHF Astro Saber built from parts which only works analog, some misc Sabers, another MT2000 VHF, two Baofengs, a 900MHz MTS2000 which doesn't work on 33cm sadly, and my most recent acquisition, a M1 VHF XTS3000.

Keeps reminding me...I need to get my firmware on my Astro Sabers (and maybe some other XTS3000s) upgraded...running R04.02.01 right and can't put Texas Interop in them.

Yes, they will move some. a UHF high split will go down to the ham band.

If you need more than that get a 7550. They cover 403-512.

All these great radios! I had posted on another thread my acquiring some moto's for a GMRS setup, I wondered if anyone would know what programming software and connectors would be required, I guess purchase via eBay for my Motorola's. I order my  repeater software or at least the radio shop said they would, he wasn't sure on the Motorola Saber's and I also acquired 2 Motorola CDM1225's.

Looks like after meeting our county EMA director (we are going to volunteer with the county-Wife and I) I met one of the volunteers who is a ham, he drove home for me at least on getting my Tech ticket, the have all day events to get you your license, sadly next week I work, but will get off the schedule to be there.

Showed the wife this other black disease, she was okay on the rifles, not sure how she will do on the /\/\ addiction

The amplifier is actually for an MT500 convertacom. I have an AVA that I bought off the EE (should be on either the first or second page of this thread) and am actually planning on implementing it. Very few AVA's were sold with the internal PA deck and that was the only part that was band specific for them. The amp I bought is a 10 dB amp (rated for around 4 or 5W input).

Is their a decent, reputable place that you would recommend to purchase used Moto gear, I am also looking for a UHF convertacom for an Astro Saber, doesn't need an amplifier. Really looking for a mobile charge option (have a Moto 1225 mobile in the cars) as I am leaning towards a mobile extender with Vertex or the Pyramid models.

AVA's are all the same, regardless of band. The amplifiers were secondary devices on them so its rare to see a used one being sold with an amplifier. Ebay has them for about $70. You might try the Two-Way Radio Traders on facebook to see if anyone has one. I watched an VHF/UHF combo with AVA sell for about $225 last week on P25 Forums.

A whole bunch of MCS 2000s and some Syntors. And I'm guessing the cabinet is a Motorola full duplex UHF system aka the predecessor to the cell phone.

Haha. My AVA is going in my XJ...with a MT500 convertacom amp.

And yes, I am running my AS without something attached to the negative lead.

I see things like that and it makes me want to install a XTVA in my truck and install a proper NMO antenna mount.

But then I think about how little I drive, and how I like using 2 meters even less

I was wondering about that. Coax shield or on the db25?

The mounting tray...its' screwed down to the floorpan and the radios are chassis ground. Motorola hasn't made an isolated chassis radio since the 70's.

Is there a place that will give me an overview of what the various Ham-usable Motorola units are?

I've seen so many different model numbers, model names, initials and anacronyms that I have no idea which are older, which are newer, which are easier to adapt, etc.

Too many to list... Just depends on what your needs/wants are.

The basic list going from newest to oldest that are pretty popular in the ham world would be:
For digital and analog: APX 7000/7500, XPR series, Astro 25 XTL/XTS, Astro Spectra/Saber
For analog only (not in age order really): CDM/HT 1250, MCS2000, Spectra/Saber, HT1000
