fast45, just asking here, but is each book long enough to be it's own novel?

perhaps if they are a bit short each or just for the inevitable cost savings you could finish the story and have it all printed in one nice large novel?

i have bought both of tom sherrys' books(patientlly waiting on #3) and will be buying LO as soon as it's published and they are both much longer works(seemingly) than your story so i am guessing that they'd all nicely fit in one installment. you could subdevide the novel into the "books"(which ofcourse are representative of the seperate story arcs. Ex, book 1 chapters 1-9, book 2 chapters 9-17, etc. ) inside the novel and probably save some cost on printing seperate novels(at least save on the cost of cover art and seperate covers and printings)...

just my $.02

When I spoke with a couple of printers they suggsted keeping the novels to 180-200 page range to facilitate easy printing, binding and shipping.  Plus it fits into a slightly lower cost per book outlay for me up front.  I have thrree other books, 565 pages, 480, and 387 pages each and the print cost was outrageous  so they got shelved.  I am reworking them now for entry here for general reading.  Truthfully though, at present, things are so busy i havent had time to get much pleasure work done.  But hang in there if you like the stuff so far.  thanks  Fast

gotcha, just a thought i had...

i've worked formerly for RR Donnelly and sons a very large printing company. i worked in the press room, bindery(both ends of the line), handwork, augger room, bailer room(the latter two being more on the recycling and waste recovery portion of the process) and done many many jobs in the factory. i've also worked for both a decent sized college bookstore(shipping and recieving as well as stocking) and their distribution center...

i've learned a lot about books, the actual printing process, and distrubution(wholesale to retail) networks, though the editing and what i call the office work(where the pages are laid out and etched onto the press plates, the folks that are responable for these jobs all have offices as opposed to the factory workers) as well as the costs associated with these parts of the process are still foreign to me...

though i'd inquire...

Just read part 1 and part 2 all the way through. Excellent writing, excellent story. Seems to be a good premise for a 2 or 3 part movie. Can't wait for 3rd book

Still working on a third book and a fourth.  Also trying to re-write a very big, older SHTF book I wrote years ago.  Work has been very busy and so have sales or equipment and our custom nylon gear so i havent had much time to really buckle down and write.  Appreciate the support as always.  Fast

I just finished it . . . totally engrossing.  When I had to put it down, I pretty much thought about it up until I could read the next chapter.  Superb job, Fast.  I hope we can read more from this saga soon.
Maybe picking up a year later when they take a look at the outside world and they find out the Z's have all kind of evolved like Stampley and maybe even moreso, kind of like I Am Legend (the book, not the movie) in a way.  I'm just throwing stuff out there, but awesome story.

Gentlemen and Ladies,

I am so glad that you have all enjoyed the story and wish I could get more out quicker.  Truth is though,  Things have just been so busy I havent had time to put much down.  I do have a couple chapters for a third volume but I dont want to put it out as a teaser without a solid expectation to keep it going regularly.  I really appreciate the comments and support and check in here often.  Volume one is going to a printer very soon and then I will see how that goes as to whether or not to print DPOD2 and beyond.

Thanks again and have patience,

FAST45

Darkest Part of Day Volume 1 has gone to printers.  We have been struggling with overwhelming business lately.  Seems a bunch of people in this country figured out what assault rifles and associated gear is all about and I can't keep up and write too.

volume 2 is being edited and spellchecked and should be ready soon too.

I have been told informally that no sales are allowed here but something will be available soon.

I appreciate all the support and patience from everyone here.  Volume 3 is coming, I promise!

I will advise when its ready.  I never realized that getting a book out is kind of like starting a corporation.  There are lots of hoops to jump through and all manner of hidden fees, costs and forms.

Not sure if I'm missing sarcasm or not but I haven't read part one yet.  This story was referred to me by someone and I'd like to start from the beginning.
