Is it on Netflix or Amazon?
I read the book, it was pretty good. The author is a liberal queer, but it was kinda funny, and neat to learn a little about the AT.

Nick is looking very old. Not sure if it was all acting, he's 75 now? But, good movie, I'd love to hike the AT someday.

I hiked half of the AT last summer. From Harper's Ferry all the way to Kathadin. The book and the movie was the running joke on the trail. Neither are an accurate depiction of hiking the AT....

True, but I'd imagine that it wouldn't be too hard to find yo-yo's like the "bunkhouse gear queer guy" or that woman who wouldn't shut up.
Do a youtube search for "Thru hikers (enter year)________" by Hiker Trash. PLENTY of Yo-Yo's!

I started reading the book last year and had to put it down. The guy came across as an arrogant prick.
A few weeks ago the wife picked up the movie from redbox and we sat down and watched it together. Both of us thought it sucked.

Stereotypes exist for a reason. Pretty sure the author says in the book that some of the characters are conglomerations multiple individuals. People who take themselves too seriously to appreciate the book should consider what they are looking for when they hit the trail.
