View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: The arcade scene in T2 always brings back memories of those days. Hanging out at the arcade with friends. Chilling at the mall… Haven’t had any desire to go to a mall since the 90s. I miss roaming the mall with my friends in the 80s Wouldnt go near one these days https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/466249/1ck7pmlk7xp81_jpg-3171137.JPG One by me just closed it's doors for good. No idea what's gonna happen to the property though. We have one too. It's been pretty much fully closed, except the Movie theater and a Von Maur store. All the other shops have been gone for years, used to have a Kohl's. Sears, Carson Pirie Scott, Penny's and all the other usual small shops you'd find in a mall. |

I just checked, and the closest one is still in operation! Haven’t been there in years, but the last time I went, it was still the same thing; open only in the warmer months. Seemed to be all HS girls working Summer jobs, and yes, they were all on rollerskates or rollerblades (apparently, rollerskates have made a comeback with Zoomers. I guess rollerskates are trendy now, amongst a certain crowd, and rollerblades have fallen out of vogue. Don’t ask me why). |

Me with my dad just before leaving for church in the mid-70s. 1. There's a Meijer where the house once stood. 2. Dad has been dead for 20 years. 3. Mom (who took the picture) is in dementia care. 4. Those clothes. That change is good. Let's hope that look never returns. |

View Quote Wow… just checked, and apparently there are still a few operational drive-in movie places in MI. Usually seasonal, but apparently one of them is already open, and currently showing the new Ghostbusters movie. Another thing I haven’t done since the 90s. |

View Quote Wow. Chicks were so awesome in the 70's. I can still see each and everyone of them in my mind. Great photo. |

We went to church every Sunday all dressed up. Great photo and Dad looks cool! |

If I had a picture of the gun rack in the rear window (with my Marlin bolt .22) of my 1969 Datsun pickup I would post it.

Quoted: Born in 1950 I have a much broader perspective of how far downhill this country has traveled. I understand change is inevitable but social rot is something else entirely especially when you have those to are actively workings towards it. Back in the late 50's and early 60's kids enjoyed a level of freedom quite unimaginable to people these days. View Quote Removing the freedom to fail and to expect consequences of your behavior has precipitated a lot of these negative changes. Earlier statement about Brave New World instead of 1984 was right were we are controlled by threat of losing conveniences instead of freedoms. |

This thread really shakes me up. I miss the 90's, dearly. Hell, at this point, I'd even settle for 2000-2005. This whole culture is so off the rails...

I remember doing that on road trips. I look back at spaces I used to fit into, and think, “How?” I remember my mom showing me my first baby shoes, when I was a HS Senior. I held out my hand and said, “My thumb is longer than this. My foot fit in this?”. She laughed and said, “You didn’t come out this size, you know?”. |

My brother had one, it was purple, with tassels on the ends of the handlebars. I thought the shifter was the coolest thing EVER. Mine was a regular old little red Raleigh that almost killed me when the brakes went out coming down a hill. |
