Donald Trump on Friday threatened to sue Ted Cruz for "not being a natural born citizen" if the Texas senator "doesn't clean up his act" and stop running negative ads against him.
"If @TedCruz doesn't clean up his act, stop cheating, & doing negative ads, I have standing to sue him for not being a natural born citizen," he tweeted. |
next week: Trump: "I like the guy, id have him as my VP...YUGE!"
Truth be told I suspect that he does have standing.
Maybe Goldman Sachs and Robert Mercer can float the Creepy Canuck a loan for a court battle. |
Im sure he'll get to the bottom of it....just like he did with Obama's birther issue

You know that Sanders or Clinton is going to bring this up to use against Cruz in the unlikely event he makes it to the general election.
Cruz's eligibility is not an open and shut matter. |
Translation: Tread lightly, Ted, for there are consequences to coming at The Donald.

View Quote Sure it is. Cruz was born in Canada. Cruz was born a Canadian citizen. Cruz finally admitted the above a few months ago. Claimed he "had no idea". Cruz filled out some obscure paperwork a few months ago. Just too many notes. Just remove a few notes, and he's good to go. |
AhHH yes the old I don't like you so I am going to try and get you in trouble routine. Fucking clownshoes Donald Trump go fuck yourself with your fake spray tan and nasty combover... what a little bitch.

That threat will play about as well as skipping the debate for Trump. It is definitely going to hurt Cruz' stock should he make it to the general now as it's prime fodder for the Democratic nominee. So this dimwitted maneuver hurts Trump short term, hurts Cruz short and long term. Short term Rubio may play this like a fiddle. Not much good news to be had in this scenario.

Lol. |
So... wait.
He's threatening to sue him for not being eligible to run for President... if he doesn't stop running negative ads? So which is it? He doesn't believe Cruz is eligible to be President but doesn't care so long as Cruz does what he wants? Or he doesn't really believe it, but he's willing to file a knowingly frivolous suit because of what he thinks it will do to Cruz's campaign? |

According to The United States Department of State: 7 FAM 1131.6 Nature of Citizenship Acquired by Birth Abroad to U.S. Citizen Parents 7 FAM 1131.6-1 Status Generally (TL:CON-68; 04-01-1998) Persons born abroad who acquire U.S. citizenship at birth by statute generally have the same rights and are subject to the same obligations as citizens born in the United States who acquire citizenship pursuant to the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. One exception is that they may be subject to citizenship retention requirements. 7 FAM 1131.6-2 Eligibility for Presidency (TL:CON-68; 04-01-1998) a. It has never been determined definitively by a court whether a person who acquired U.S. citizenship by birth abroad to U.S. citizens is a natural-born citizen within the meaning of Article II of the Constitution and, therefore, eligible for the Presidency. b. Section 1, Article II, of the Constitution states, in relevant part that No Person except a natural born Citizen...shall be eligible for the Office of President. c. The Constitution does not define "natural born". The Act to establish an Uniform Rule of Naturalization, enacted March 26, 1790, (1 Stat. 103,104) provided that, ...the children of citizens of the United States, that may be born ... out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born citizens: Provided that the right of citizenship shall not descend to persons whose fathers have never been resident in the United States. d. This statute is no longer operative, however, and its formula is not included in modern nationality statutes. In any event, the fact that someone is a natural born citizen pursuant to a statute does not necessarily imply that he or she is such a citizen for Constitutional purposes. https://fam.state.gov/searchapps/viewer?format=html&query=Natural%20born%20citizen&links=NATUR,BORN,CITIZEN&url=/FAM/07FAM/07FAM1130.html#M1131_6_2 |

Cruz should call his bluff, as succinctly as possible.
"Put up or shut up" works. |

It’s going to be a wonderful lawsuit… a beautiful lawsuit… it’s going to be Yuege! |

Cruz brought it upon himself with his endless, constant attacks on Trump

Go ahead Donald, do it you pussy. You think Ted is running nasty ads, wait until the entire media establishment and team Hillary start. They're keeping their powder dry praying Trump wins the nomination and then they'll unleash hell.
