Before you answer...I mean your regular run of the mill manufacturer...not custom shops and not their in house custom shops.  Who makes the best "off the line" firearms?

Any firearm as long as it's a production piece?

Anchutz

"nice" is pretty subjective.  Some might think pretty.  I tend to think quality + accuracy + durability.

Quality rifles at a reasonable price/ best bang for the buck I'd probably have to go with Sako and Tikka.

Don't have a lot of recent experience with pistols so I have no idea there.

Agreed.

For straight line production guns, Anschutz is tough to beat.

Anecdotal of course but pistol wise I have owned Sigs, H&K (full size and compact USP), CZ, FN, SW M&P, Walther.   They only one I had problems with out of the box was a full size H&K USP.  It would stove pipe once a mag.  All the others mentioned ran/run pretty much 100%.   Again anecdotal but for the price of a H&K....meh.

That's the first name that came to mind for me.

Their designs have drawbacks that are really unpopular with some, but their quality control seems to be really damn good.

Do you consider Sako to be a regular "run of the mill" manufacturer?

Their price point is well above the average, and it's pretty rare to see them in the wild.
