Girlfriend just called me, and said her car has been completely flooded. She lives in the Memorial area of Houston and she had been monitoring the water level. Hadn't checked in a while and a flash flood got her car.

An inch of rain to flood Houston? This thing is historic. They're saying the flooding from Shoal creek is worse than the '81 Memorial Day flood. Not to mention what's happened on the Blanco and San Marcos rivers. A friend of mine told me last week that he heard a report that this El Nino is one of the strongest ever observed and that the projections are for a very wet fall. We need it but can sure do without the death and destruction. |

This shit is getting out of hand.
I feel like it's irresponsible to fall a sleep right now. |

I'm going to guess 12 inches of rain in west or southwest Houston by sunrise.

we got so fucked with this storm. just finished going through our area. Took a couple hours and dumped 4-5 inches. Porch/ patio had about a half inch of water flowing across it, fortunately nothing came in. We've had two to three months of constant rain and the ground around here has standing water from what seems like March. Been in this location for 6 years and never have I had this much water on the portch (live on a bit of an incline). Houston is fucked right about now and I a friend said that Lake Travis in Austin has risen over 20-25 feet in the past 14 days including 10 feet in just the past 2 days. It's still 30 feet low, but I don't expect that'll be the case by tomorrow afternoon.
It's nuts out here - our average rainfall is around 40 inches and we're at least at 30 so far, maybe even more. |

I finally got to edit all my pictures after everything has settled down here in the Austin suburbs. My son and I drove around after the storms had passed and took pictures and video. It was absolutely insane; I have not seen any chaos like this in the 20 years that I've lived here. Tiny creeks had turned into raging torrents. I caught a swift water rescue on video too, so let me get those posts going.
Thankfully, we were alright. My back yard had a small river running through it but we are not in a flood-prone area thankfully. 4.59" of rain in about 90 minutes, and almost 15" total now for this month. |

My wife's from Hondo in Medina county and she's wondering if the hill country got hit? We're up in Yellowstone so communication is lacking. Be safe folks!

This thing has stalled at the coast. It's just sitting there dumping on Houston.

I wish I had gotten some good pictures when I was in the middle of that big storm in Stephenville a few weeks back. Baseball sized hail, funnel clouds like crazy, a bunch of tornado touchdowns outside of town, streets ran like rivers, it was a fun time.

I'm on a hill in Austin and I'm grateful for that.
Good luck to you guys in Houston and areas in between. I know you have a shortage of hills down there. |

Left Dallas at 8am headed west and it was raining. Got to El Paso ten hours later dry and dusty.

Word is we're getting pulled from here and head to assist in water rescues in and around Houston. Almost nobody here for work today at the refinery. Crazy...

Report I heard this morning was 4 dead, 12 missing...and more rain expected throughout the week. Damn. If El Nino caused this...I can't wait for hurricane season. |
|
No flooding at work in Dallas, but we came in this morning, power lines were down in the parking lot. Telephone lines down to the house.
Luckily, there are two sets of lines on the same pole. Ours comes in on the top set, so we still have power. |

Austin's forecast looks decent for the majority of the week. 40-50% chance of rain for the weekend and then dry again after that.

Here's an interesting thought for people around Austin: Lake Travis has gone up about 30 feet since the beginning of the year. I had previously calculated that it takes 6.18 BILLION gallons of water to make Lake Travis go up one foot, so that is roughly 185 BILLION gallons of water recently. We can all agree that this amount of water is mind-boggling. If gallons were dollars, the federal government would have spent that in TWENTY DAYS. |

I used to live in Wimberley, Wood Creek to be exact.
I think we have at least one member that live sin Wimberley, Hope he and his family are OK. stay safe Texans!! |

Any word on how far Lake LBJ has come up?
My exwife's family has a ranch just north of Sunrise Beach, right on the shore. |
