A liberal talks about 'NEEDS" "YOU DONT NEED THAT" and lies "NO ONES COMING FOR YOUR TRUCKS" while lobbying the EPA and NHTSA for tougher regs.
The RINO's here bitch about the guys wanting a body on frame truck as being old men wanting deathtraps that no one wants while saying the new regs are good.

The mentally disabled bitch that the small trucks have no towing capacity and argues that theres no need for midsize trucks like  Tacoma's while calling everyone who doesn't drive a full size diesel a
"poser faggot". Stock/car/poor/Jeep people think EVERYONE who drives a truck is a fucking flat bill brodozer.

People who don't have diesels think everyone who has one is a fucking COAL roller.
And no one here realizes they are the assholes they so vigorously bitch about.

Most that lift their trucks around here are just for looks, normally a shit ty spacer lift, etc.

I spend most of my time trying to talk myself out of doing fenders and long travel on the wifes fj.

OP, just chalk it up to preference.  A little bit of lift without fucking up the center of gravity can be useful on a fullsize.

Well, I can guess how this topic will go.  But I am legit wondering why people put lift kits on full size trucks?  Are there any benefits besides the looks, if you like the looks?  I can understand lifting a Tacoma or S10 or small truck if you want to go offroading, but full size trucks don't strike me as good for offroading given their weight/width/length.

Lifted trucks would be a pain in the ass to put stuff in/get stuff out of the bed, I imagine it hurts any gas mileage, and I rarely see lifted trucks towing anything, so I  would think they aren't the best for towing.  Also would seem to probably wear parts unnecessarily.

I can totally get lifting Jeeps/4 Runners things like that to offroad but why do people lift F350's?

lifted truck are great on and off road. even when the road is is off road conditions.
"off road" doesnt just mean kids out showing off mudding.
some people actually need to go places "off road" or on road with 17in of snow covering it.
and yes, you can tow with a lifted truck .
if the lift is set up correctly there is minimal extra wear.
not getting around in this kinda stuff without some extra ground clearance and bigger tires.

Yes, I get this.

But why do they need more ground clearance in a F350 or Ram 2500?  I have NEVER seen a farmer drive a lifted truck, so I imagine they can get by just fine in a stock height truck with good tires in fields and such.

I guess I just think trying to wheel trails or a rock garden in a full size truck would be a little dumb.  Too heavy/wide/long to be effective?

inlaws farm, I have pulled out their trucks quite often.
but generally, when a farmer is going into a field that would need a lift, they take the tractor. which sits alot higher then the truck

I don't like huge lifts .... I like a tasteful lifted truck (3-6" lift is my limit) .... I recently lifted my 07 F150 FX4 and I like the way it turned out .... not to big but still looks good ....
17" Wheels and 35s Nitto Trail Grapplers turned out great IMO ... I stayed away from black wheels to be a little different
EDIT: I honestly did it for the looks more than anything plus the extra ground clearance etc is nice to have when needed

Most of it is additional height, but the more expensive suspension "systems" replace a lot of subpar OEM parts while maintaining a decent ride. Companies such as Carli or Icon would be the only way to go, with BDS at the bare minimum. RCC has his shit down as far as a proper "lifted" truck goes.

A full size can do things micro rigs cant. They can haul loads ofnfire wood out of the woods, and skid logs better. They do better at hill climbing until break over becomes an issue. Older fullsize trucks are also very light when compared to new vehicles. My 1991 F150 with an 8 foot box, 35s, D44HD front axle locked d70 rear with a bunch of money in suspension weighs only 4800lbs. It has 14inches of wheel travel, low gearing and enough ground clearance to be decently capible off road. Its a full ton or more lighter than a current model year pickup and only a few hundred pounds heavier than a 4 door Wrangler and is better at everything but hauling people.

Another interesting thing I have noticed is that when parked next to a modern F250 with a small lift and similar sized tires, the top of my cab is the same height as theirs, top of my bed rails are lower, and my rocker panels are a good 6inches higher up. And I am at probably around 8 inches taller than stock. My truck looks insanely tall, theirs looks normal. A lot of it has to do with sheet metal affecting looks of the truck also.

I'm ok with a few inches, anything higher is just silly.

clarification: if you have a vehicle only used for off-road, have fun.   If you put anything over a 6" lift on a daily driver it's just silly.

In for another chance to show off my truck.

OP, I can understand if the vehicle is just a trail toy that you might want something smaller. Not everyone does this for looks or just playing. However, I have gone a lot of places with 38" tires (20" wheels) and a 10" suspension lift that a stock truck could not.

Depends on where you live.  I see a ton of lifted farm trucks in my area;  most of them are people who have flood-prone, muddy land.   You may see a lot of them in places that are flat and muddy.

Also, people do it for better approach and departure angles, especially if they have short beds, bobbed flatbeds, etc.    The payload on most non-fullsize pickups in the US sucks because they're built to be driven empty.   Buyers would piss and moan about the suspension on something like a Hilux.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of brodozers fall under this category, though:

I lifted my Suburban 3" so I could fit 33" tires.

I wanted 33" tires so I could easily get under the truck to change oil and work on it without using jack stands or ramps.

It also looks 1000% better and the tires have a more aggressive tread for, ya know, mud and such.

I also think the F250's and such with an 87" lift look incredibly stupid.  There's no practical reason to do that to a vehicle... but there are a lot of things that people do that are impractical.

apparently you aren't to into the wheelin' scene. PLENTY of people wheel the piss out of full size rigs or truggies based on full sized rigs. It's the fullsize trucks that real axles come from (D60s/70s, ff14b etc), real transmissions come from (TH400 etc.) and real engines come from (big block, rawr!). Those Dana 30s and 44s that come in Jeeps are the shit that fullsize guys throw away as completely insufficient for the job. Here's my rig when it still had a body on it, and the tiny 39.5" TSLs.

All that said, there are plenty of douche nozzles that put HUGE lift on their mall queen full size truck. I can't explain what those tribal-tattoo-having, white-frame sunglasses-wearing idiots are doing.

My F-150 is 2WD. I know better than to put any lift on it.
I do agree with the "donks for white people" comment. There are parts of the truck "culture" I don't quite understand.

Oh look, another thread where some of you worry about another man's money and talk about dicks...can we get a Sandy Mangina sub forum please? Group it with handbags, shoes  and douche of the month sub....

I put a leveling kit on my Ram 1500. Why? Because it's my money and I like the way it looks. According to the ARFfairies I guess I have an average size dick, unless it's unusually cold out.

Fucking hell...

I leveled my 05 duramax to fit 33's, and because a truck shouldn't be fucking raked like a 60s muscle car.

SWB "full size" trucks from the 70s and 80s are a far cry from the battleship length modern bro-lifts that could hi-center on a speed bump.

If I HAD to design a trail rig from a MODERN full size truck I'd get a short cab short bed GM or RAM and lift it 3-4" and try not to overdo the tire width, but many of those now don't come with proper lockers or systems that approximate a locker, the AT overheats when crawling...
