Just googled that CMP and M1 Garand. Found an article.

Now before readers become excited about buying a legitimate .30-06 M1 Garand for a great price (Service Grade $525 in person or $625 mail order), the CMP has certain requirements that must be reached before a civilian can purchase one. A purchaser must be a member of a CMP affiliated club (local gun clubs, some Boy Scouts of America chapters count), must show proof of U.S. citizenship and age, proof of marksmanship activity (past competitions, instructor status, CCW etc…) and be eligible to purchase a firearm (no criminal record, honorable discharge). To be eligible, one does not have to be a resident from the state that the CMP store is located in. This is an interesting feature about the CMP because they are a chartered organization by Congress and thus FFL exempt. Typical FFL purchase checks are not used in the purchase process and the rifle can be shipped directly to your home. Not to an FFL where you have to sign for it but overnight shipping to your place of residence. - See more at: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/07/31/buying-m1-garand-cmp/#sthash.ef6dezfA.dpuf

CHL is not required in my state for conceal or open carry (I would for training but money), I don't compete (money again), CMP affiliated club... well maybe my local range. Other than that seems like well screw it.

Buy a ticket on that French train, homie.

I have two Holy Grail Frenchies waiting at the FFL, but I'm stuck in Canada for a few more weeks.

I travel a lot and get paid extra to travel, so 8 weeks out of 9 on the road means buying spree.  Gonna make it on a watch list with this next pickup.

Very nice!

I don't know much about French rifles, but want the MAS-36 to help complete my goal of collecting battle rifles of WWII.  What is the average price of a good condition MAS-36?

USPSA change the rules for Revolver division.  The 5-inch 627 is now THE GUN to have for USPSA Revolver division.  The 625's reign is over.  This happened last February.  I got my 627 5-inch the previous fall for $850.  The price quickly went up after that rule change.

This is number 1 on my short list:  Webley Mark VI in 455 Webley
