So rioting has broken out in a major US city (like say one in Missouri), and YOU are in complete charge of the response, what do you do?
This question was brought up in class today, just curious how the answers will compare. |

I start burning down the rioters' houses.
I let them know that I am better, faster and more efficient at doing that than they are. |
|
|
The chemical smoke they used to fill the hanger bays with on the ship
That shit was worse than tear gas |
|
|
Firetrucks hosing down everyone in the streets should do the trick.

Gillie suits and surpressed ARs with 22lr uppers and subsonic ammo...
...everywhere. As soon as someone pics up a brick... tick. When they light up a Molotov... tick. Oh, you're gonna loot that store?... tick. |

Seriously: Have the firetrucks spray the crowd, but from a high angle. The point would be soaking them down on a cold night, not blowing them off their feet. Not seriously: AC-130 Spectre or Blue Thunder. http://www.dfcsociety.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/AC130-gunship.jpg http://www.sonymoviechannel.com/sites/default/files/movies/images/main__0003_blueThunder_0.jpg?1301585488 View Quote agreed....get em wet!!!they WILL go home and have the sniffles |

That's a good question. As much as I'd like to say that I would implement a tough police response, that warned of and used lethal force, against rioters, the police are a target for critics. And it doesn't matter if a shooting is justified when many observers hold double standards.
In some ways, letting the rioters and looters have some free reign keeps the negative attention on them and may lead some previous critics of police to advocate a more stringent law enforcement response. |
|
Import a few battalions of Polizei, and shut down cell service (except for 911) in the affected area.

Grand Opening of the new Ferguson location of the Rachel Corrie Pancake House, free D9 rides all day long...

Dusk to dawn curfew.
Overwhelming National Guard and police presence at businesses. Good guys available to engage at major intersections. Options available include water to hose down protestors. Tear gas. Rubber bullets. At first hint of violence, give the protestors five minutes to lie down. If they refuse, hose them down, deploy tear gas, overwhelming advance on them, arresting and securing with hand and leg cuffs and place them on the ground until all are secured. Use rubber bullets is also possible for those not lying on ground. Bottom line: better tactics are likely but there is one overarching premise: Accept no violence. End it immediately. |

Mass arrests. Cordon off areas, surround the rioters, squeeze them into a circle and peel away (arrest) the outer layer until they're all carted off. Campos de FEMA.

Is shooting and active felon legal in Mo. View Quote In Mo, a person can only make an arrest if they personally witness a class A felony crime being committed. All others, you better just be a good witness and call 911. If you read up on chapter 563, you can find out when lethal force may be used to protect yourself and others. |

Shoot the looters and use dogs, bayonets and clubs on the rioters. But no tear gas because dogs have sensitive eyes.
