As for me, I've been around the block a few times to know what I want and where to look to find a happy balance between decent people and good looking people.  I have dated plenty of hot chicks, I married a runway model (2nd marriage), and I've had my fair share of good times.  After the first marriage, I decided to hit the gym and get in decent shape (I'm no body builder, but I am 6'0" 190) and that helped to boost my confidence to a level where I could crawl out of being bummed out that goes along with post-divorce mentality.  That confidence boost is what I needed to realize that I could go out and talk to women and be happy.  After dating around quite a bit and talking to women at bars, work, school, parties, etc for years, I have come to understand the thought process that people go through, in general, when it comes to picking friends, dates, fuck buddies, and spouses.  People are people, no matter how you slice it.  Most people are the same, with a few quirks that balance the personality one way or another.  

Like I said, I mentioned a general rule as far as single people go.  I am not criticizing anyone.  People will do what they do.  The only people I will criticize are the fatties or anti-social type that will complain about something they are too lazy to change.  I once thought that hot chicks were a bit snobby, but as I got older and more real world experience, I know that they are able to be selective (guys too) and there is nothing wrong with that.

As some here know, I used to coach college cheerleading.  

Once, one of my girls came to me and told me that her boyfriend had been hitting her.  She showed me bruises on her side, her arms, her back, and her legs.  I was very supportive and tried to get her to end the relationship and go to the police.  I told her that I would take her right that moment to the police department, that I'd be with her the whole time, and that she didn't need to be afraid anymore.  She refused to break up with him or go to the police.  Exasperated, I asked her what she wanted me to do.  She said "I don't know, I thought that you could help me."

I found out later that she had lived on the same floor as this guy's ex...  and that this guy's ex regularly had bruises all over her, including her face, and that everyone (including the girl from my team) knew that he beat women.  She knew it and decided to date him anyway.
