FIRST ARREST? Connecticut Man Faces Charges For Unregistered “Assault Rifle,” Standard Capacity Magazines
Is it happening? ETA: For TL;DR crowd: 65 year-old guy shoots a squirrel in his back yard. JBTs show up, search his house, find "large capacity" mags and an "unregistered assault rifle." Charge him with violating new AWB. |

Police were directing traffic in the area of Housatonic Drive when they heard a gunshot nearby, according to the release. View Quote |

Did he really use a 5.56mm rifle to shoot a squirrel inside city limits?!? What did he think would happen.
To me the first rule of ignoring a law is to NOT invite the man into your life....I guess I am just weird that way ETA: This is where a suppressed 22LR is needed. I really should get on that sooner rather than later. |

Although, based on CT's legal definition, an "assault weapon" could be a Ruger 10/22 in a folding Butler Creek stock (semi-automatic, accepts detachable magazines and has two "bad" features - folding stock and pistol grip). |

The fact that my state has to send Representatives to sit under the same dome with people from places with gun laws like CT, NY, NJ, MD, and CA, sickitates me.
Actually, it's more that their state GETS to send Representatives, but whatever. |

WTF? What crime was committed? Sounds like he was shooting in the burbs. no fucks given on that charge, but the "assault weapon" was most likely a semi auto .22LR with a detachable magazine. Either that, or he shot a squirrel with an actual rifle, in which case, high fucking five for overkill. |

I say fuck them and I hope the same fucking militia that showed up down in Nevada surrounds this guy's house and tells the fucking CT JBTs to fuck off or face the fucking consequences. What if he didn't shoot a squirrel and that was their excuse for raiding his home. So supposedly a gunshot was heard and the cops narrow it down exactly and find someone violating their bullshit laws? How many "swat raids wrong house, kills owners" stories have i read on here?

I think the registrations will only lead to confiscations and I disagree with them. Thankfully they are a non-issue where I live. If people choose to stay in NY and CT then they have chosen poorly and have to live with their choices. |
