(The Center Square) More than 10 million people have been reported illegally entering the United States since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021, the greatest number in history and of any administration.
They total more than the individual populations of 41 states.
The number of people illegally entering the country surged after Biden and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas halted many preexisting border security policies, advanced sweeping parole and other policies to release the greatest number of illegal foreign nationals into the country, encouraged people from all over the world to use a phone app to enter the U.S., and facilitated U.S. entry application processes in foreign countries, among others.
Official U.S. Customs and Border Protection data includes 3,201,144 apprehensions in fiscal 2023; 2,766,582 in fiscal 2022; 1,956,519 in fiscal 2021; and 471,954 in the nine months Biden was in office in fiscal 2020.
CBP's fiscal year is from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30.
Combined, official apprehensions total 8,396,199.
They exclude gotaway data, which CBP does not report publicly. The Center Square has been reporting preliminary gotaway data solely reported by Border Patrol agents at the southwest border. The information is obtained from a Border Patrol agent who provides it and other information on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation.
Since January 2021, a minimum estimate of nearly 1.7 million gotaways have illegally entered the U.S.
Based on earlier projections and including Office of Field Operations data, former CBP chief Mark Morgan told The Center Square the gotaway data is likely to reach or exceed one million for fiscal 2023 alone.
In fiscal 2021, there were at least 308,655 known, reported gotaways; in fiscal 2022, 606,150 were reported. According to preliminary data obtained by The Center Square, Border Patrol agents reported at least 769,174 gotaways at the southwest border alone.
This number excludes OFO data, gotaway data at the northern border and other CBP ports of entry nationwide. The Center Square has not yet received total internal gotaway numbers.
However, even those are considered a best estimate because they exclude unknown and unreported gotaways, those who illegally enter undetected meaning, the number is likely much higher. Law enforcement officials have said they have no idea how many gotaways there are in the U.S., or who or where they are.
Combined, the minimum estimated known, reported gotaways from Jan. 1, 2021, to Sept. 30, 2023 is at least 1,678,979.
Since January 2021, total illegal border crossers apprehended nationwide were 8,396,198. Combined with at least 1,678,979 gotaways, the number increases to over 10 million (at least 10,075,177).
This is greater than the individual populations of 41 states.
The only states with an estimated population greater than the number of illegal border crossers are California, Texas, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, Georgia and North Carolina.
They edged ahead of Michigan's estimated population of 10,030,722.
The total number of illegal border crossers during the period equates to 25% of California's population, 33% of Texas' population, 44% of Florida's population and nearly 52% of New York's population.
They're equivalent to over 17 Wyomings; over 15 Vermonts; nearly 14 Alaskas; and nearly 13 North Dakotas. They total nearly ten Delawares, the home state of the president.
Among them are 1,586 known, suspected terrorists (KSTs) who were apprehended in fiscal years 2020-2023.
In fiscal 2023, CBP agents apprehended the greatest number of KSTs 736 in a single year in U.S. history.
They also apprehended the greatest number of criminal noncitizens in U.S. history, totaling nearly 50,000. This number excludes the tens of thousands of criminal noncitizens arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials and an unknown number arrested by local and state law enforcement officers.

I own a ranch here in Central Texas, pretty close to the middle of nowhere. In the past years we would occasionally get a trespasser. Sometimes illegals, sometimes not. Most of them were either poachers or just cutting through on their way somewhere.
However, over the last 6 months I have caught and sent on their way a bunch of illegals. Sometimes families cutting through my ranch. Sometimes groups of young men camping. The other night I caught 8 men with backpacks cutting through. They were not Mexican and did not speak any English. I assume they were speaking Arabic or something like that. They did not look to be carrying any weapons and eventually left my property when I motioned them to. I don't believe they are making it this far on foot. They have to be taken into the interior and dropped off. I'm probably 8 to 10 hours from the border by car. When I first ran into this problem I called the Sheriff. One outraged group of 21 border security-minded lawmakers pitched a bill that would require the United States, the UN's largest donor, to turn off the taxpayer money spigot.
H.R. 6155 never caught fire, though, in no small part because "fact checks" from outlets such as the AFP claimed that the UN was doing no such thing.
Those fact checkers lied.
The UN's just released the 2024 "Inter-Agency Coordination Platform for Refugees and Migrants from Venezuela" (R4V for short), a planning and budget document for handing out $1.6 billion in 17 Latin America countries.
It confirms the UN, with the helping hands of 248 named non-governmental organizations, is indeed giving debit cards to illegal migrants funded, in large part, by US taxpayers.
Despite the R4V plan title naming Venezuelans as recipients of this aid operation, the document's fine print (footnote on page 14 and paragraph on page 43, for instance) says the largesse goes to "all nationalities" and "multiple other nationalities." Seems like people should find a way to identify these cards and than start refusing to take them. This is only one part of much broader UN hemisphere-wide vision that aims to spend $1.59 billion assisting about three million people in 17 countries who emigrated from home nations.
The UN report predicts northern migration will continue to increase in 2024. It blames "xenophobia" in Venezuela for why people want to leave, among other factors.
Then it does, finally, tag the real culprit: Biden administration policies that created "newly established opportunities for regular pathways to move to the United States of America."

Meanwhile, ICE arrests in Fiscal Year 2022 fell by 69% compared to Fiscal Year 2018 and arrests of convicted criminals fell 65% (to 36,322 in Fiscal Year 2022 from 105,140 in Fiscal Year 2018).

Aug 10, 2023: The Biden Administration Office of Management and Budget requested nearly $14 billion in emergency funding that perpetuates the Biden Administration's open borders policies. For example, $600 million was requested for FEMA's Shelter and Services program, which provided airfare and hotels to illegal aliens. This is on top of the $363.8 spent by the program in Fiscal Year 2023.

According to CBP data, apprehensions totaled 200,048 in Q1 FY24 in Tucson, up from 68,480 in Q1 FY23, a 192% increase.

As the Biden administration and "shadowy network of secretive nonprofits" facilitate the greatest migration invasion this nation has ever seen on the southern border, new concerns are mounting that illegals are finding alternative routes into the country via the unfenced northern border with Canada.
New US Customs and Border Protection data shows more than 12,000 migrants were apprehended on the northern border last year, more than double the number from the year before of 3,578.
The New York Post first reported that most illegal crossings (about 70%) have occurred along the 295-mile Swanton Sector, including upstate New York, New Hampshire, and Vermont.

Experts told NYPost, "Migrants who make it to Mexico and can afford a $350 one-way plane ticket from Mexico City or Cancun to Montreal or Toronto are making their way south to cross the northern US border where they are less likely to be turned away than those who cross the southern border."
On the northern border, migrants take advantage of border crossings without walls or fences. They're simply just walking right into the US.
New York State Assemblyman Billy Jones, who represents Clinton County, recently warned: "The northern border has pretty much been ignored."
The tick-up in migrant encounters on the northern border first came to our attention nearly one year ago. We penned this note last May: "Northern US Border Encounters With Illegals More Than Double In 7 Months."
And just days ago, a migrant smuggling ring in New Jersey was uncovered that bussed "dozens if not hundreds" of migrants into the US through the unfenced border between Quebec and Vermont.

Earlier this month, New York Republican leaders in the state Legislature urged Gov. Kathy Hochul to deploy the state's National Guard on its northern border.
"More than 8 million border encounters have occurred since President Biden took office. In 2023, over 2.5 million migrants entered the country through the southern border. In December alone, 302,034 encounters were reported by US Customs and Border Protection. On New York's Northern Border, 91,640 illegal crossings were reported in the past year.
"Immigration reform is a matter that must be dealt with on the Federal level. However, we hope you agree that the states' sovereign right to protect its citizens and its communities must be valued above the actions of federal authorities. For this reason, we urge you to deploy the National Guard immediately to assist the State of Texas and New York Canadian border in efforts to stop the flow of migrants coming into our country illegally," the letter stated, signed by state Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt and Assembly Minority Leader William Barclay.

As thousands of migrants continue to arrive at the southern border, Chinese immigrants say videos on TikTok are showing them how and where to illegally enter the United States.
During a recent segment featured on CBS's "60 Minutes," dozens of migrants could be seen entering the U.S. through a gap at the border fence in Jacumba, California, just 60-miles east of San Diego.
This comes amid a surge in Chinese immigrants, many of which are seeking political asylum.
Some of those crossing the border said they traveled for 40 days across at least seven countries in order to reach Mexico.
Over the course of four days, crews said human smugglers dropped off a new vehicle of migrants every half hour, totaling at nearly 600 people.
A 37-year-old Chinese woman told "60 Minutes" that she learned of the entryway from TikTok.
Some videos on the Chinese-run social media platform give users instructions on how to find gaps in the border wall and even how to hire smugglers to give them a ride.

(The Center Square) There were nearly 243,000 illegal border crossers reported in January nationwide, according to new data released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
They include 176,205 illegal border crossers along the southwest border. The majority, 124,220, were apprehended between ports of entry.
The remainder were apprehended at ports of entry (marine and air) nationwide, including 15,802 at the northern border, the most in a single month at the northern border in U.S. history.
Approximately 45,000 foreign nationals were processed into the country making appointments on the CBP One App arriving at ports of entry last month, CBP said.
From January 2023 through January 2024, 459,118 foreign nationals from all over the world "have successfully scheduled appointments to present at ports of entry using CBP One" CBP said. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing a Catholic non-governmental organization operating in the state and wants to have its registration revoked, alleging that it is encouraging illegal immigration and operating a stash house for those entering illegally.
Paxton has sued Annunciation House a Catholic nonprofit set up in the 1980s and is seeking to revoke its registration to operate in Texas.
Annunciation House describes itself as a volunteer organization that "offers hospitality to migrants, immigrants, and refugees in El Paso, Texas."

...Paxton's lawsuit accuses the group of "openly and flagrantly violating many provisions of law in a systemic fashion." Specifically, it accuses it of providing shelter to illegal immigrants who have evaded law enforcement, of encouraging illegal immigration, of engaging in human smuggling and of operating a "stash house."
"Annunciation House appears to be engaged in the operation of an illegal stash house by potentially allowing others to use its real estate to engage in human smuggling," the lawsuit says.
Paxton's office had requested records from the organization to evaluate potential violations of federal law. However, the organization in turn sued the AG's office, seeking a restraining order and accusing it of making an impossible demand due to its limited volunteer staff and of violating its "constitutional rights of association."
The lawsuit requests that its right to operate in Texas is terminated and also asks the court to appoint a receiver to liquidate its assets. Earlier this month, The New York Post reported that the mayor of New York is giving away pre-paid cash cards each carrying "up to $10,000" to foreign nationals in New York. Most of these foreign nationals i.e., "illegal immigrants" have arrived in New York with no invitation, no employment prospects, and no plan for housing. But most of them plan on staying. And why shouldn't they? Upon arrival, thousands of them immediately went on the public dole in some way or another, relying on taxpayer-funded shelters, housing programs, and a variety of sources for "free" food. Those immigrants who have not found taxpayer funded housing in hotels there are presently at least 66,000 of them simply live on the taxpayer-funded streets as vagrants.
The latest idea from the city's central planners is to pay out millions more via pre-paid debit cards pre-paid, of course, by millions of people who actually work for a living. The city has already planned to spend at least $2.5 billion on the migrants in this way. An additional $53 million will go to grease the palms of bankers who will provide the cards.
This is just one story among many we've seen in recent years on how state, local, and federal policymakers have shoveled ever larger amounts of taxpayer funds to both legal and illegal immigrants. After all, there are at least 23 million foreign nationals residing in the United States both legally and illegally and both are subsidized by taxpayers to the tune of at least $150 billion per year. On June 2, 2024, the citizens of Mexico will go to the polls to elect their next president. They will also be voting for Mexico's lower chamber, the Senate, and self-government elections in 30 out of the country's 32 states. But the Mexican government is interested in increasing voter turnout among Mexicans residing in the United States. This includes Mexicans legally residing in the U.S., illegally residing, and even American citizens of Mexican ancestry. Once registered, Mexicans will be able to vote by mail, in-person in four countries (the U.S., Canada, France, and Spain), and electronically.
Prior to the February 25 deadline to register to vote, Mexican officials had been actively encouraging Mexicans residing in the U.S. including through official visits and expatriate outreach to register and vote. The Fresno Bee reported in early November 2023 that Guadalupe Mendiola Gonzalez, of the Electoral Institute of the State of Guanajuato, and Nora Ruth Chavez Gonzalez, the state's director of political and electoral culture, were eager to boost turnout In February, the American press from local outlets to the New York Times was also filled with articles explaining how to vote in Mexico's upcoming election, although their connection to Mexican government efforts was much less clear. Either way, a huge and vociferous get-out-the-vote campaign was evident.
To register, Mexican nationals must have a valid voter ID from the "I.N.E," the National Electoral Institute and be 18 years old by election day. To obtain an I.N.E. one must present a valid form of photo identification, proof of residency, and proof of nationality, such as a Mexican birth certificate, which notably are available to individuals not born in Mexico. The Mexican government emphasizes this in no way impacts their U.S. citizenship in the eyes of the Mexican government. It is now even possible to apply for such a document online.
In addition to the unprecedented ease and accessibility of voting, who will be able to vote will be just as important. As the Texas Tribune pointed out, a 2021 constitutional amendment allowed Mexican nationality to be passed on indefinitely. This was a reference to an amendment of Chapter II Article 30A of the Mexican Constitution. Border agents in Miami have been told to prepare for a wave of migration from Haiti following the takeover of the country by bloodthirsty gangs, The Post has learned.
An internal agency email leaked to The Post pointed out it is unlikely Haitians who take to the sea and enter Florida illegally will be repatriated back to their home country, given its instability.
The message also warned that one vessel of migrants landing would overwhelm agency capabilities in the area.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. In anticipation of a potential influx of illegal immigrants from Haiti, Governor Ron DeSantis has ordered additional state assets to the Keys and southern waters of the State of Florida.
"For quite some time, the State of Florida has been dedicating significant resources to combat illegal vessels coming to Florida from countries such as Haiti," said Governor Ron DeSantis. "Given the circumstances in Haiti, I have directed the Division of Emergency Management, the Florida State Guard, and state law enforcement agencies to deploy over 250 additional officers and soldiers and over a dozen air and sea craft to the southern coast of Florida to protect our state. No state has done more to supplement the (under-resourced) U.S. Coast Guard's interdiction efforts; we cannot have illegal aliens coming to Florida."
Currently, state agencies have security and surveillance assets in South Florida and the Keys as a part of Operation Vigilant Sentry to stop illegal immigration at sea. The governor's directive today will send additional personnel and assets from the following agencies:
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement: 39 additional officers.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission: 23 additional officers with eight additional seacraft.
The Florida National Guard: 48 additional Guardsmen with four additional helicopters.
The Florida Highway Patrol: 30 additional officers with an additional aircraft and drones for surveillance.
Governor DeSantis will also today authorize a deployment of the Florida State Guard to the Keys to assist in the operation. This deployment includes up to 133 soldiers.

Rio Grande Valley Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez told the House Oversight Committee in February of 2023 that in her Texas sector alone, more than 10,000 drone incursions and 25,000 drone sightings had been reported in the last year.
“The adversaries have 17 times the number of drones, twice the amount of flight hours and unlimited funding to grow their operations,” Chavez told lawmakers.
In January of 2023, authorities discovered drone footage of Border Patrol agents allegedly shot by human smugglers during a raid of what was believed to be a safe house used to hide migrants illegally crossing the US-Mexico boundary.

In New York City, where nearly 180,000 illegal aliens have entered since 2022, criminals with ties to MS-13 and the 18th Street gang are openly selling social security cards to migrants on street corners in Queens. These violent gangs have become a “one-stop shop” for the illegal aliens that they may have also helped smuggle into the U.S.
In Denver, which has the most migrants per capita than any other city, migrants can buy both a basic social security card and a green card for approximately $100-$150. A social security card that passes E-Verify (more likely to be a real number stolen from a person), costs about $900. Unlike New York, however, authorities do not believe the criminals selling these cards have ties to criminal gangs. According to Denver’s Homeland Security Investigations, the sales are not a crime ring but rather a “few men who may be involved.”
These fake or stolen security cards primarily enable illegal aliens to circumvent the law that bars employers from hiring them. Those who actually apply for asylum are eligible for work permits. However, to discourage asylum fraud, the law prohibits such aliens from receiving their work permit for at least 180 days after filing an application.
While many of these fake social security cards are used for obtaining work, they could also be used by individuals to cause harm on U.S. soil. Roy Fenoff, an associate professor at the Department of Criminal Justice at the South Carolina Citadel said, “There are people getting these cards that are not here just to get a job, that they have other intentions, and this helps them carry out criminal activity.” By: Allen Cone

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Three undocumented immigrants from Guatemala are accused of forcing a woman into a vehicle and sexually battering her at two locations just west of Lake Worth Beach, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
This abduction occurred at 1 a.m. Monday in a residential area in the 5000 block of Lake Osborne Drive, which is near John Prince Park, just west of Interstate 95.
"Thankfully, the victim was able to escape and flag down a passerby to help her," PBSO spokeswoman Teri Barbera said in a news release.
Barbera said she didn't have the two locations of the assault.
Andres Felipe Morales, 29; Darinel Ordonez Jjimenez, 30, and Marcos Felipe Ramirez, 31, were arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County jail around 7 p.m. Monday. During their first appearance Tuesday, bond was set at $200,000 for each one with their next court date set for 10:30 a.m. April 10.

“Begun in October 2022 for Venezuelans and expanded in January 2023 to Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Colombians, the program approves flight travel authorizations for aspiring illegal border-crossers still in other countries to instead arrange commercial airline passage for themselves over the southern border and then receive temporary but easily renewable ‘humanitarian parole’ from CBP officers at the airport,” Bensman said in his new report. “One incentive to dissuade beneficiaries from illegal border crossings is that the parole program comes with eligibility for renewable work permits.”

As the judges decide whether Texas has the right to defend itself, the judges will not only have the opinions of Texas and the Department of Justice, but other parties interested in the outcome, including the Government of Mexico which filed an amicus brief (also known as a “friend of the court” brief) asking the Fifth Circuit to strike down the law. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is at it again: cutting corners to reduce so-called backlogs. This time, the agency is “streamlining” for obtaining work permits by allowing automatic extensions for up to 540 days – whether the aliens are here legally or not. The action, done via a temporary final rule published in today’s Federal Register, was in response to predictable yet astronomical increases in applications for employment authorization documents (EADS), or work permits, since the border crisis began.
Current regulations allow the agency to grant an extension for up to 180 days for those seeking a renewal of an EAD. The agency claims it increasing the extension period to 540 days, as a temporary measure, due to surges in 2021 and COVID-related delays. As a result, USCIS claims, processing times have increased, and those with existing EADs face the possibility of a lapse in authorization to work.
USCIS stated, “Without this [Temporary Final Rule], approximately 800,000 renewal EAD applicants will be in danger of having their applications remain pending beyond the 180-day automatic extension period, resulting in applicants losing employment authorization and/or EAD validity in the approximately 2-year period beginning May 2024 because of USCIS processing delays and through no fault of their own. Such widescale lapses in employment authorization and EAD validity would result in substantial and unnecessary harm to noncitizens who timely filed for extensions of employment authorization, their families, their employers, and the public at large.”

On the evening of April 10, Iowa Republican Governor Kim Reynolds signed Senate File 2340, which makes it a crime for illegal migrants to enter or re-enter the state if they have been deported or denied admission to the US. “The Biden Administration has failed to enforce our nation’s immigration laws, putting the protection and safety of Iowans at risk,” the governor said in a statement. “Those who come into our country illegally have broken the law, yet Biden refuses to deport them. This law gives Iowa law enforcement the power to do what he is unwilling to do: enforce immigration law already on the books.”
The law makes entering or re-entering the state if they were deported or prohibited from entry an aggravated misdemeanor, which could get migrants arrested and sentenced to potentially two years in prison. However, that offense will be upgraded to a felony if the immigrant had drug-related crimes, prior felony convictions, or crimes against people, Fox News explained. Law enforcement, though, can’t arrest suspected migrants at medical facilities, places of worship, or schools.
Other states, such as Louisiana, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, have similar proposed laws in the pipeline. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) was criticized for something much like this, leading Mexico’s government to weigh in on the matter and make clear they wouldn’t take the criminal migrants back.
Iowa’s law goes into effect July 1.

Section 212(d)(5)(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act provides that the secretary of homeland security may “parole into the United States temporarily under such conditions as he may prescribe only on a case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit any alien applying for admission to the United States.”
In other words, Congress granted the executive very limited authority to allow otherwise inadmissible aliens to enter the country for a limited time for clearly defined reasons.

Ten states experienced an extreme decline in enforcement of greater than 80 percent under Biden policies (Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vermont).
Of the 50 U.S. counties that typically have the most criminal alien removals, 14 experienced extreme declines (greater than 80 percent) under Biden policies. About one-third of these high-volume counties are in Texas.
The high-volume counties with the steepest decline in removals of locally arrested criminals were Gwinnett County, Ga.; Plymouth County, Mass.; Bergen County, N.J.; and Kankakee County, Ill. Criminal removals dropped by more than 90 percent in these jurisdictions.
There were 50 counties, parishes, or territories with a minimal baseline volume of enforcement where the number of criminal removals dropped by 90 percent or more. Eight of these were in Georgia.
In one representative county, Howard County, Texas, under Biden policies just half the number of criminals convicted of homicides were removed than before, and there also were steep drops in removals of criminals convicted of assault, burglary, drugs, larceny, and sex offenses. About the Data. The records obtained by the Center itemize all aliens removed by ICE in fiscal years (October 1 – September 30) 2019 through 2021 in which the alien was identified by ICE as a result of a biometric match generated under the Secure Communities program.4 Using fingerprint matching, this program flags cases of aliens who are arrested by local law enforcement agencies for local crimes, and enables ICE to take action once the alien is held to account for the local crimes. These cases are tracked by ICE in a separate, unique data system that includes information on the state and county or territory where the alien was arrested (this locality information is not available in ICE’s main enforcement records system). The data fields also include the alien’s country of citizenship, criminal history, and other information on the alien’s immigration charges and case disposition, including the date of the alien’s removal from the United States.
For this analysis, we selected records of removals for the time period of January to September in 2019 and 2021, to correspond approximately to the first nine months of the Biden administration and a comparable time period during the Trump administration before the pandemic lockdowns of 2020. The number of Chinese nationals illegally crossing our southern border is up by 7,000% since 2021, and that’s just for half the year. If we continue that pace, it would be 14,000% by the end of the fiscal year and no one but China seems to know why.
In 2021, U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended 342 Chinese nationals. In 2022, that number jumped to 1,987. Then, in 2022, the number rose to an astonishing 24,125 — which, of course, doesn’t include the "gotaways" who made it past the Border Patrol.
Still, nothing compares to what’s ahead. So far, this year’s numbers have already eclipsed 2023 with 24,296 arrests — and we still have six more months to go in the fiscal year. Chinese migrants are among the fastest-growing groups illegally crossing the southern border. (3) the alien reasonably believed at the time of voting in violation of such subsection that he or she was a citizen of the United States. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is eyeing a summer rollout for a controversial ID card pilot program for illegal immigrants being released into the U.S. And the agency hopes it will modernize the documentation process for removal proceedings.
The ICE Secure Docket Card program was first reported on in 2022, and Fox Digital obtained images of the card last year. Now, ICE is planning a limited rollout of the program.
ICE confirmed to Fox News Digital this week the pilot program is expected to commence this summer with the distribution of approximately 10,000 cards. While the agency stressed that plans are "pre-decisional" and still subject to change, it is expected the cards will be issued in three or four locations in the U.S.
A source familiar with the program told Fox Houston and Atlanta were two potential locations.
The agency said the program will "modernize documentation provided to some noncitizens" but stressed it would not be an official form of federal ID.

During the presidential campaign, Mr. Mulino, a former security minister, pledged to “close” the Darien Gap and deport South American migrants. Stating that the border of the United States has moved from Texas to Panama, he has been vocal about working with other countries to restore order. “In order to do away with the odyssey that is the Darien Gap … with international aid we will begin a process of repatriation, in full compliance with the human rights of all the people there.”

While the crisis at the southern border has impacted the entire nation, the areas nearest to Mexico have been hit hardest. Among them is Kinney County, Texas, which has seen criminal prosecutions jump by 5,000 percent in the years since Joe Biden took office.
The unprecedented spike has diverted resources from the community's essential services, and made life harder for residents.
During a hearing on the border crisis hosted by the House Budget Committee, Kinney County Attorney Brent Smith noted that in 2020, only 134 criminal charges were recorded in his jurisdiction.
"This drastically changed in 2021," he explained, "after President Biden issued multiple executive orders revoking numerous border security policies that the DHS was operating under to successfully secure our border."
He detailed how soon after, cartels "seized control of our border and imposed their own policies that would allow their criminal enterprises to thrive."
In 2021, the county recorded 2,708 criminal charges, and the following year, that number ballooned to 6,800. While the figure did decrease slightly to 5,826 in 2023, Smith noted that it was still far too many for authorities to deal with.
He said that while the county typically runs on a $6 million budget, Biden's open border policies have cost Texas taxpayers an additional $10.5 million, on top of the unmeasurable cost of losing the feeling of safety and security. Foreign-Born Population Grew by 5.1 Million in the Last Two Years

The foreign-born or immigrant population (legal and illegal) hit new record highs in March 2024 of 51.6 million and 15.6 percent of the total U.S. population. Since March 2022 the foreign-born population has increased 5.1 million, the largest two-year increase in American history. The foreign-born population has never grown this much this fast. Although many think of immigrants only as workers, less than half of those who arrived since 2022 are employed. This analysis is based on the government’s monthly Current Population Survey (CPS), which like any survey has a margin of error, so there are fluctuations in the data. But the increase in the last two years is unlike anything seen before and is statistically significant.
Among the findings:
In March 2024 the foreign-born population reached 51.6 million, 5.1 million more than in March 2022 — the largest two-year increase ever recorded in American History.
The 51.6 million foreign-born residents in March of this year were 15.6 percent of the total U.S. population, also record highs in American history.
Since President Biden took office in January 2021 the foreign-born population has increased by 6.6 million in just 39 months.
We have previously estimated that nearly 58 percent of the increase under President Biden is due to illegal immigration.
If present trends continue, the foreign-born population will reach 62.5 million in 2030 and 82.2 million by 2040 — larger than the current combined populations of 30 states plus the District of Columbia.
Many observers think of immigrants solely as workers, but only 46 percent of the foreign-born who arrived in 2022 or later were employed in the first part of 2024 — similar to the share of new arrivals employed during previous economic expansions.
As in any human population, many newly arrived immigrants are children, elderly, disabled, caregivers, or others with no ability to work or interest in doing so.
Only about 8 percent of the 2.5 million new arrivals who are not working say they are actively looking for work.
The dramatic recent increases in the size of the foreign-born population represent net growth. The number of new arrivals was much higher but was offset by outmigration and natural mortality among the foreign-born already here.

As the online outlet explains on its “About” page”
Often overlooked by the Washington, D.C. legacy media, we’ve remained true to our community by providing local, can’t-get-it anywhere-else coverage of local government, business, and charitable organizations.
But on May 3, the little online newspaper’s Kelly Sienkowski broke a major national story with serious policy and electoral implications, but which has been overlooked by the legacy media. At issue in Sienkowski’s story is whether the United States just experienced its first attempted terror attack by a border-crossing illegal alien from the Middle East.
In the early morning of May 3, two men in a box truck pulled up to the front gate of Quantico Marine Corps Base 35 miles southwest of Washington and tried to lie their way in claiming they were Amazon delivery men. After skeptical military police channeled them to an area for secondary security inspection, the driver hit the gas in defiance of orders to halt and tried to barrel the truck into the base’s town center. Quick-thinking MPs put up road barriers that stopped the truck.
The Marines ended up citing the two for trespassing on federal property.
Sienkowski’s Potomac Local News story, quoting a prepared email statement from base spokesman Capt. Michael Curtis (shared with me) confirmed the incident’s basic contours but no more. It would have remained merely a curious local incident had she not kept pressing.
Sienkowski cited “multiple anonymous sources” to report more details that ramp up this incident to a national story with potential implications for President Joe Biden’s highly controversial U.S. border policies and even the outcome of this November’s presidential election – an election which is frequently said to hinge on widespread voter concerns about a prolonged mass migration crisis that has allowed into the country hundreds on the FBI’s terrorism watch list, among millions of other foreign nationals from all over the world.
Sienkowski’s sources told her that one of the two individuals in the truck was a Jordanian foreign national who “recently crossed the southern border into the U.S.” and also that one of them is on the U.S. terrorist watch list. Her sources didn’t say which was on the watch list. But clearly both were foreign nationals in the country on questionable legal status grounds because, after citing the two men for trespassing, the Marine Corps turned them over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the sources told Sienkowski.
Questions Gone Unanswered. The big question in the room that has gone unanswered for more than a week after Sienkowski reported the story is, of course, this one: Did illegal border-crossers from the Middle East just try to attack a U.S. military base?
Many more questions deserve answers too.
Have U.S. investigators ruled out a terrorism motive? Do U.S. counterterrorism agencies even want to know, and is anyone even investigating that question?
Were there any weapons in the truck or on the illegal immigrants it carried? Was the truck itself the weapon? That wouldn’t be unusual. And where’d they get it?
Did the men say anything illuminating during their time in custody about why and how they obviously planned acquisition of a box truck and plotted out a strategy to lie their way into a military base in it?
When and how exactly did the men enter the United States? Was the Jordanian a Palestinian Arab from Gaza and angry about U.S. support for Israel’s retaliatory war? Many Palestinians hold Jordanian passports.
Did an overwhelmed Border Patrol accidentally release the one who was on the FBI’s terrorist watch list as part of what I have reported as a new national security threat phenomenon of accidental releases?
Border Patrol has encountered at least 340 immigrants on the terrorism watch list since the mass migration began three years ago. In at least eight instances, the overwhelmed Border Patrol has accidentally released watch-listed illegal border-crossers and DHS had to frantically hunt them down afterwards.
What has ICE done with this pair since the MPs turned them over?
I emailed Sienkowski to query her about what she’s learned in the week since her story published. Not much. No one will tell her anything more, and none of the larger media outlets has joined her lonely quest.
A local mom living in northern Virginia who has no formal journalism training, Sienkowski took a few minutes to chat with me on Mother’s Day. She said she pursued the story after seeing a comment on social media, published what she could find out, and has fought a very lonely battle for more answers.
“What really blows my mind is that no other media has followed up on the story after a whole week has passed,” Sienkowski told me. “We need more transparency in how our border problems are impacting national security through localized incidents like this one.”
Sienkowski isn’t really surprised. She knows she is a journalistic small fry seeking sensitive answers from a monolithic federal bureaucracy that would only see benefit in saying nothing until her blip of an obscure local story blows over.
There is, after all, electoral peril in any admission that President Biden’s controversial border policies just produced an attempted illegal-immigrant terror attack on a military base just outside Washington, D.C.
No one will tell Sienkowski anything, certainly not the Marine Corps nor ICE.
“We have reached out to almost every elected official, and many running for office,” Sienkowski said. She named names: Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger (D-Va., 7th District), Virginia Republican candidate for congress Derrick Anderson, Republican candidate for congress Cameron Hamilton, Coles District Supervisor Yesli Vega, “and many more local candidates and supervisors.”
“I’ll keep you posted on any updates and responses,” Sienkowski assured me.
In a region saturated by major media outlets anchored by the likes of The Washington Post, only a stay-at-home mom who freelances part-time as a local reporter seems remotely curious that a couple of illegal border-crossers, one of them from Jordan, just tried to lie their way onto a U.S. Marine Corps facility and, when caught, tried to forcibly breach it for some purpose that cannot possibly have been benign.
Taking all this into account, I can promise one thing: Sienkowski is no longer alone in her quest for answers.

Once they’re approved, the vast majority of CHNV parolees skip the border and fly directly into domestic airports. Because they “are, by definition, inadmissible”, however, they count as CBP encounters.

By comparison, during the “Great Wave” of migration in the 1890s, 9.2 million foreign-born individuals lived here, and they comprised 14.8 percent of the population. When it comes to accommodating and assimilating “newcomers”, the United States is in uncharted waters.
More saliently, as Camarota and Zeigler point out, the foreign-born population has increased by 6.6 million since President Biden took office, 58 percent of whom are here “due to illegal immigration”.
Note that Camarota and Ziegler admit this is an undercount, and that “the actual number of foreign residents in the United States is larger” than they are able to assess and measure. In April, San Diego became the top point of entry for illegal aliens crossing into the United States. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, there were 37,370 illegal aliens encountered last month in the San Diego sector, marking the first time since the 1990s that the California border city has surpassed all other eight Southwest sectors in terms of apprehensions.
Data shows that the high number of encounters are foreign nationals from countries that previously hadn’t accounted for much illegal immigration. In the past, the majority of illegal aliens apprehended were from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. However, so far in Fiscal Year 2024 (in just seven months), those countries only accounted for 20 percent of the apprehensions in the San Diego sector. In their place, the vast majority of illegal aliens during that period were from China, Columbia, Ecuador, Brazil, Turkey, and India.
