PQ 17: An Arctic Convoy Disaster
This is one of Jeremy Clarkson's rare WWII documentaries.
Say what you want about him, when does one of these documentaries he's as good as anyone.  Maybe better.

Skidoo - 1968
This movie is indescribably bad.
The all-star cast and Otto Preminger directing couldn't save it.  It's just awful.
Skidoo is also Groucho Marx's last film appearance.

Alien: Covenant

As a fan of the franchise, I liked it, friend didn't care for it.

Ridley Scott made a gorgeous movie (production wise), the story was OK
the middle of the movie dragged a bit.

The Man Who Laughs - 1928 Silent

From Wikipedia
"The Man Who Laughs is a 1928 American silent horror film directed by the German Expressionist filmmaker Paul Leni. The film is an adaptation of Victor Hugo's novel of the same name and stars Mary Philbin as the blind Dea and Conrad Veidt as Gwynplaine. The film is known for the grim carnival freak-like grin on the character Gwynplaine's face, which often leads it to be classified as a horror film.  Film critic Roger Ebert stated, "The Man Who Laughs is a melodrama, at times even a swashbuckler, but so steeped in Expressionist gloom that it plays like a horror film."

I admit some of the German Expressionist film from the silent era are hard for me to follow without a cheat sheet.  The Man Who Laughs was easy to follow and a good watch.
It's also one of the last great Expressionist films from that era.

"Conrad Veidt's character, Gwynplaine, was known to have been an inspiration for the creation of the comic book character, The Joker, Batman's arch nemesis, by Jerry Robinson, Bill Finger, and Bob Kane."

A Dog's Purpose

drama that follows a dog's perspective through life, then he dies and is reborn as other dogs.

has all the cliché sweet stuff that you'll see in other dog movies.
I got a little choked up at the dog deaths (nothing gory)

Inherit The Wind

courtroom drama about a H.S. teacher in the 1920s that gets into trouble with the state for teaching evolution
I noticed a lot of the same social drama that gets played out in modern society,
especially the snarky, condescending big city newspaper reporter played by Gene Kelley

stars Spencer Tracy and Fredric March
