I am interested in opinions.  What would ya'll do with these options.  It's for a 401k to get the match,  The rest goes to a Roth IRA.  Please excuse the choppy cut and paste.

I would overweight the stock funds, and within that I would overweight the small and midcap funds.

I would avoid stable value altogether.

I would underweight the bond funds.  (I wish my 401k offered a long term treasury fund, that seems like an obvious choice for some, (not too much!), of an investment portfolio.  Rates will go up at some point, IDKW.  After they do, I would still underweight bonds, just not as much.

Some will say that your age plays a big factor.  If you are getting long in the tooth, conventional wisdom says to have more in bonds than if you are a youngster.

My advice would be considered to be very aggressive by some.

I am 58, and I follow my own advice.

I am 35, and tend to lean aggressive. Thanks.

I would have at least 50% in VITSX.

Conventional theory says hold some bonds but I don't like them.

I put about 50% of my money in total stock market, 30% in total international and the other 20% I play with and choose what I like at the moment. Currently my 20% is in small cap, mid cap and natural resources.

So given those choices I would probably do something like

50% VITSX
30% VTMGX
10% BSFIX
10% ? Maybe mid cap

I would over-weight large cap US stock over small cap US stock.  Large cap stocks trail small in returns during a recovery and small-caps have had a fantastic run.  Above that we have not had a market correction for some time.  Although you are in this for the long term over-weighting large caps right now will insulate you a little bit from the volatility of small-caps during the next correction or two. Might be time for the value end to shine, but exposure to top three style boxes is favorable.  US Large cap 55-60%, US small cap 20-25%.

Although bond returns have been surprising this year all things considered interest rates will drive existing bond values down when they rise and they are on the bottom floor still.  I believe in a balanced approach, yet I hold no bonds due to my time horizon.  You seem to be in a similar boat.

20%-25% in foreign/emerging markets as they have underperformed and seem to be poised for growth US stock cannot attain right now.
