My 2yo decided to dump a bottle of water on my GS70, and went undetected
until after I made it home from work. I detail stripped it, and got
everything out, gently dried, and put everything into rice for 3 days.
There was some corrosion near the power tap on the mobo, and she's dead,
jim. I saved the dual mSATA SSD RAiD 0s and SATA HD. In the middle of
building a decent desktop, and looks like I have my new HDs for the
build. I found no evidence of water infiltration around the HDs.
Hardware wise, I'll order a few brackets, two mSATA to SATA adapters, and
be golden, but I have no idea how to install the RAID 0 array software
side, and hopefully be able to recover the data before booting from it.

Oh, and discovered that system wasn't backing up to my NAS like I thought it was. Lesson learned there.

This can be done, but you need expensive software to do it; or you need to be handy with Perl and have a deep understanding of how data is structured on a hard drive, and a deep knowledge of RAID what stripe size you used.

The other option is contacting a data recovery company, such as Gillware (I'm a partner with them, I'd offer a quote but staff looks poorly on me offering services here) and they can reconstruct the array and copy the data to a drive for you.

The 2yr old or the drive?

Haha, the laptop. The drives were saved.

My biggest issue is trying to save that license of Windows - trying to avoid shelling out for 8.1. The important files, minus a few documents that I have backups of, were on the secondary HD, which is functional.
