Believe it or not I do have the ability to read, though if I was required to read anything before posting a comment then this discussion should have been posted under somthing like: Comments? Perhaps next time you could just post a reply stating "see Pg 9." Such a response very likely would have prevented the waste of time, energy and screen space of others that the original quoted post above and your replies have become.

The value of this forum is the acquisition and sharing information that is pertinent and expensive to obtain alone.

The arrogant attitude replete in replies such as yours merely clouds (and thus detracts) from the value of this forum. While there may be a time and place for such responses, this is not it.

Moreover, it is asinine and insulting to the intelligence of everyone (including your own) for you to accuse the person who was the target of your unacceptable conduct of having your obvious shortcomings.

So if you and others like you would do us all a favor, please follow your own advice: lighten up, refrain and let the information flow in a cordial if not professional manner.

A new batch of lifetime memberships were added to the store. Here's an attempt to answer some of the questions and comments that will inevitably come up.

WTF?!?!? Why are they $500?
Those that got in on the $300 memberships last year was a special because we needed to purchase hardware immediately. Obviously $300 is a bargain considering that it is a $100/yr membership; $500 is still a bargain... all of the funds go directly towards the support of the site, and this year has a number of new additions coming.

I'm not paying $500 for something that was $300!
No problem.

What do I get for $500?
For those that do choose to participate, the first obvious benefit is a lifetime platinum membership on the site. This is the same level membership that those who upgraded last year received. In addition, we will have a new forum, available only to lifetime members coming shortly. In addition, we reserve the right to add special perks to lifetime members along the way, so the full benefits of a lifetime membership are not yet known.

What is the new Lifetime Member Forum?
This new forum will allow lifetime members to have a little more say in the site. We may give them early access to new tools/functionality on the site, early access to special sales, and other such benefits through the forum, as well as solicit feedback and opinions about the site and development projects.

Damn, I just paid my membership, now what?
Anyone that has paid for their membership within 60 days of upgrading to a lifetime account can send us an email and we will refund you the original membership.

How many memberships are available?
We added 100 new lifetime memberships. Once these are gone, we do not anticipate any more in the future.

We recognize that those that purchase a lifetime membership do so because they want to help the site. We in turn will do our best to make sure your investment is worthwhile for you, and as mentioned we will make certain perks available when/where we can.

I sit here at my desk and read a lot - probably 4 hrs a day (not all 4 hrs at the desk - probably sit here 2 hrs a day). I get all my news from the web. I rarely turn on the TV.

I'll leave ARFCOM open, and drop in every so often during my "desk stay."

After going "all-in" for two Cav Arms lowers today, I could probably only afford to put a down payment on a Lifetime Membership right now.

That said, I'm going to file my taxes this week and (due to poor planning on my part) I should be getting some of my money back.

Hopefully I can still get in on this while the gettin' is good.....

Regardless, I don't begrudge any of you bastards who are able to get in on this. Even if one of you sorry mother fuckers happens to get the last one, right before I do.

I'll make sure to get the sales tax refunded on this for you. NYS is changing their laws to force vendors to collect sales tax on purchases, where in the past it was up to individuals to do so. (From 1992 Supreme Court decision.) With the change coming, we need to adjust how we handle tax and I totally forgot to remove tax on virtual purchases.

A lot of Team Members, such as myself, rarely venture out of the General discussion forum.

Is there a reason the lifetime option hasn't been mentioned there,
or should it be left to the Team forum for a day or two first?

The $300 I spent last fall was the best deal I have got in a long time and even at $500 it is one that is hard to beat.
