I haven't used any of my other fixed blades since ai got my Grit 55. It's on it's second patina and I listed my Spartan for sale since I can't do it justice.

Ben, do you happen to know how etching solution would work on 5160? I used mustard but know etchant is a bit deeper. Just never tried it on carbon steel before.

I'm glad you're using the heck out of that Grit 55. It will patina back over time but if you're using it so much you don't need to worry about rust. I'll be in touch.

Here are some more fresh blades from the bench.

Project Piper was a set a blades I made and later gave away to man diagnosed with lung, brain and bone cancer for his two children. It was an honor to create them given the gravity of the situation.

Hello,

Is your logo stamped on or etched?  Just curious.

Thanks

I stamp the humble acorn on each blade I make. I think a stamp is a more personal touch, each one a little different depending on my strike that day.

The Recluse looks amazing!

That's some fine skill you got there brother.  Keeping the grind even on one side of the blade is tough enough, let alone keeping it that even on both sides!

How long is the blade?  8 or 9"s?

Thank you sir, that means a lot. I found the balance point to be perfect at around a 7" blade so I went with that. This piece is 80CRV2 high carbon alloy.

Awesome knives. I noticed you use 52100. Do by chance know where to get any thicker 52100 stock? I'm looking for 5/16in thick but can't find it anywhere. I've tried NJ Steel Baron, USA Knifemaker, Jantz, Alpha knife supply, and no luck.

I don't call it anything, I was just fiddling with 550 and stumbled across it. Works well, stays tight.

This may have been asked and answered already but what kind of finish is that and how are you doing it? It looks like a stonewashing, possibly with an etching prior.

What's the first one called?  I like that one a lot, but I'm not really a big fan of double edged knives.  I'll bet that would still be a bad ass knife with just one edge on it.

Thanks,
