I am looking at getting a 22/45 as a host for my suppressor. Is the 4.5" lite (with the weird scallops), the 22/45 Lite with flutes, or the threaded 4.5" the one to go with?

I thought about getting a GSG 1911 but I keep coming back to the 22/45.

The 'scalloped' one runs cooler, but as a whole I love my fluted model.  That said, the fluted ones are discontinued (Ruger rotates models) so if you see one locally, I'd grab it.

Since I don't have a suppressor, here's mine as it sits earlier today.

I think that while the lite feels nicer, the non-lite 22/45 TB is better if you plan on shooting in volume. It is more robust and uses the classic Mark III upper receiver/barrel combination. The guys at my gun store have told me that the lites have had some issues here or there, but that the regular TB versions are solid.

There is also a MkIII under Distributor Exclusives. This uses the classic Mark III grip frame, which would be my preference. There is almost 70 years of Ruger experience in this design, and I shoot early Ruger Mk I's almost every week. But at the end of the day, I don't think there are any bad choices here. If you had a problem after the sale, Ruger will always take good care of you.

If you search there are a couple of threads of issues with the fluted ones suppressed and extreme leading.  The newer scalloped design may be a  eyesore but they run great and dont have any issues reported yet.

I have both the Threaded Barrel and Cobalt lite.  I like the Lite a little bit better, but both work well.

I am torn between the two.

I used to have the Lite black fluted. But it leaded so badly when shooting suppressed. Do you shoot suppressed? Does the cobalt show leading when cleaning then looking down the barrel?

Thanks

No leading issues. I have a couple of 22 cans. I run them both pretty hard. The leading issues seem to be a non issues on any of the guns where the barrel sleeve can breathe.

Waiting on my can, but picked up a blue lite a few weeks ago. Took it to the range and shot around 300 rounds. I had leading at 12'oclock. It was pretty bad. I'm hoping it was a fluke. I shot 200 more today. We will see if it happened again.

Why would the fluted Lite (3903) lead any more or less then any of the other "Lite" models? Don't they all use the same internal barrel? The only difference I can see is maybe the 3906 (Cobolt) and 3908 (Blue) models may cool better?

Are you sure the leading wasn't an ammo issue? I ask because A. Seems like a lot of people run the 3903 model suppressed and I don't hear many people complaining about it? B. I remember when I had my AA Glock conversion that ran fine until I ran some CCI Blazers through it. No more then 200rds of the Blazers and the barrel was so leaded that the rifling was almost non-existent. That was unsuppressed. Took me a couple of hours of soaking and scrubbing to get that barrel clean. Never had that problem with any other rounds through that upper.

I have been happy with this version.

Docter Optic on top, laser/light on bottom

Suppressor on the front.

All good choices. I have a mk2 I had threaded, a 22/45 lite that I sold and the SR22 that I LOOOOVE to shoot with a can on it.

I went with the original. Great hang weight for extended shooting sessions. Really with its polymer frame it just is not that heavy.

You can't really go wrong with any of them.

Find the one that looks good to you when you put on a suppressor.

Personally I prefer the fluted ones.

I have the fluted Lite model and love it!  I use it with a Spectre II and a Huntetown Arms.
