My slide was claimed to be made around 86-88 by the seller, in the early 90's they added the scallop to the ejection port to this style slide. It appears that when the cannon insignia was moved to the front of the slide is when they changed to the smaller pin. Here is a quick guide to the various slide changes over the years:

First generation slide - no scallop

Second generation - scallop added. Does not appear that these were ever widespread

Third and fourth gen - insignia moved forward on slide, firing pin changed to .075" Fourth gen added FCS

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e131/akim85/M45%20CQC/aa020.jpg~original

Fifth generation - changed to wide cocking serrations, Novak sight cuts added

If anyone has anything to add to the list through their findings please share.

There are some old OG SA 1911s that have the emblem in front of the ejection port.  AFAIK most of these were kit or initial production guns.

My cousin has one with a small GI ejection port and sights that was a factory complete gun (still has the box).

Here's my offering.  I'm planning to replace the grip with Pachmayr, blacken barrel, blacken bushing, and replace FLGR with Milspec type plug and guide.

Despite weapon light technology increasing ten fold since the 90s, I still have a thing for those old surefire lights... Well done

Intended to give this one a full-on treatment but decided to stop here and see how it works before proceeding further. Repatriated Mil-Spec with a 2-piece barrel. Really cruddy, dinged and scratched. Still has some dings and scratches but it came together nicely with help from this forum! Thanks to you all for inspiration and guidance.

Just in case anyone is pulling their hair out trying to find a real Surefire 310R or 610R for their build, then you may want to take a look at the VFC V1911.  I have used one before on a 1911 with great success.  The unit held up on the gun just fine.  I can confirm that real Surefire lamp assemblies (L60 and L30) will fit this unit and work in it fine as well.  Here's my video unboxing review of a real Surefire 310R compared to the clone.

But where do you get the proprietary Surefire Slide Stop for 310R/610R? VFC V1911 slide stop is for airsoft, will not work with real 1911.

I thought I covered that in that video, but it might have been in this video:

https://youtu.be/dJXvgwNzwoI

Basically the answer for that is to either modify your own, or have a gunsmith do this for you.  I have a small bench top lathe and was able to build my own.  Either way, it's still cheaper and easier to get than buying a real 610R or 310R

Figure I'll show off one of the donor pistols for my build. It came with a Millett serrated rear, though I have a PWS ready to go on it. Threw some MEU specific bits in just for a mock up.  Kind of a shame there isn't anymore meat on this frame to fit the beavertail... I rather like the character of it. Waiting on the right GI frame to get to work. Picked up a Caspian stripped frame that I'll use if I get too frustrated waiting.  ( Unfitted random safety won't engage. Just there to keep it all together for the pictures.)   Thanks to Ben, Mlin, and Usnguns.

Which model is it? The W114? Surefire had different adapters included with lights which then they would change the part number, but the base light was the same in the IMPL series. Post a pic of it if you can.

No, not the rail gun. Same as this one. It's a special run of 200 from the research I've done so far.

I have to find time to go pick it up 2 hours away. I put a deposit on it to hold it until I could do some research. The only black one I had seen at the time was one a gunsmith did and I didn't want it if that was the case. Now that I know it's like that from the custom shop I'm going to pick it up when I get a chance to make the drive.

I started working in a new armory recently and wanted to share some pictures of a few variants I have.  Top left is a 6 digit GI frame, top right is using a USMC pistol team match slide, bottom left is an MC, bottom right is a new Colt.  The yellow tags denote repairs are necessary although they will not be getting repaired.  I enjoy finding these variations in use throughout the Marine Corps, even though the older ones are more rare.

Very interesting, I have an older Rail Gun without the larger lower rail. Odd they made some of the M45's in black.

Are the early Marine issued Cerekote M45s getting refinished in the DecoBond? And is Colt still shipping M45s to the USMC or has the contract been filled?

The new finish on the M45 is IonBond.  I have a buddy is in the unit and I talked to him about the pistol.  He said that they stopped shipping them and that the contract wasn't filled.  He gave me a reason why they stopped the contract and what he told me is a shame.  I last talked with him about 2 months ago.

I also have a buddy going through ITC right now and his class is the first to use the G19.  Not sure what they will do with the rest of the M45.

It's not up to my level of satisfaction, but you're definitely right.  I'll probably use this frame for this build, and start another one that's fit better.

Little bit of progress.  Haven't installed the PWS rear yet, and I need to send it off to have forward serrations cut in.

+1 Sweet looking gun!

I would leave it as is too. A bit of beavertail gap may not be great on a full house custom, but it does not impair function, and a lot of these guns had it. Personally, I also like that generation of slide without the front serrations (like on Hobbs' pistol). Lowering and flairing the ejection port more to look like newer slides may look funky with the roll mark placement on yours.

That said, I am biased. I have considered getting the tangs rewelded, but the M45 is taking all my money

Ok, here is my humble contribution.  Never meant to be a MEUSOC clone or anything, but kind of fits.
Started life in 1989 or so as a SA Milspec.  A gift from my wife, I remember it was before Desert Storm if that helps date it.
A Gunnersmate Master Chief at Little Creek did a little work on it when I got it  I have always scored Pistol Expert so no complaints.
Another local smith did the "tiger stripe" stippling and, added the beaver tail and the night sights I then had it cerakoted.
All the parts not original are Ed Brown.
I cannot begin to count the number or rounds I have put through this pistol.
I hope my contribution measures up.
Thanks

Daily trim with cocabola grips and it' Backwoods Leather holster and mag pouch

I put the Pachymayer grips back on just for this picture.

More fighting handguns, for comparison.

Deviated from the parts list with an EGW flat firing pin stop, ball head disconnector, Harrison hammer strut, slightly raised mag catch, and true radius sear.

Reminiscing about the time (years) I was collecting parts for these two builds and couldnt remember if I ever posted pictures here.

My MEUSOC 1911 and Beretta M9 Replicas :)

Alchemy did the build for the 1911, I slapped the parts together for the M9. M9 could use a refinish but I like how weathered it looks.
