Thank you.  I had to send the pistol back to Springfield to fix a dust cover rub. As long as they were already paying the shipping, there and back, I decided to have them do 25lpi machine checkering on the front strap.  I am very impressed with the checkering.  It is a perfect feel for me.  Not too coarse, not to fine, and very precise.  I will add,  in the picture above, the checkering looks pretty blurry due to the reduction of size.  I will see If I can crop another for you.
Here ya go:

It really makes it easier to use the correct grip, with pressure on the front strap.  I'm hoping to replace the rear main spring housing with a checkered version soon.

The grips also were a big plus for me.  They are the thin style, and I like the smoothness of them, compared to the factory grips.  They don't snag on my clothing at all.

If I remember correctly, it only cost me $80.  I thought that was a pretty good deal.

Did this one for a customer. Slide is Satin Gray. Man are those sights hard to get off. He wanted a color that Springfield didnt offer.

Here's a few of mine. The Springfield that's still in the white is my version of a Pro model. I've had the frame and slide for about 10 yrs now and finally got around to fitting everything together.

Hobbs,

Yeah it's all my own work. I have a shop in Carmel Valley CA where I apprenticed and recently bought out the original owner last year. The frame for that one is a a gunsmith oversize frame I bought from Brownells years ago along with the slide. The barrel is Bar Sto, B/T is S&A .220" S&A flat magwell, it now has a C&S hammer and sear(I had Brown internals in it but I'm really disappointed in Ed Brown products lately) Greider trigger, FLGR. Going out for finish hopefully next month and tritium inserts after that. Here's one while not Springfield (Baer Para SRP copy I just finished) you might enjoy it.

I've experienced that as well not to mention the Hardcore hammers haven't been as square as they should be for what you're paying. Congrats on the new kid, my wife and I have three... Least they're all boys, be able to teach them the family biz one day. You need anything let me know and I'll give you my shop number.

Oh ya, haven't seen a Black Stainless yet.  This one now has Black Gunner Grips.  Use in IDPA, but with a different holster.

I just bought a springfield.  Will post here when I get it!  Is that milt sparks versa max 2 considered THE standard, cause I've heard of it before.  Also, is there a thigh rig that'll hold a 1911 with a light on it?

Hobb's, here's mine before any mods.   Of course my mods will be so slight they won't eve be mods.  But I got my rear sight from brownells today and it seems like it 'll do the trick.  And I got my pachmyr grips.  O.K. so I'm a marine poseur.  I do have to say they're an improvement to the stock milspec grips!

Thanks hobbs ! I am in the process of refinishing the frame in the Brownell's baking lacquer in o.d green and a set of the new ergo"gunner grips"I think that will do it for now, hopefully it will turn out good and I will post some new photos.

Very, very nice.  I'm thinking a lanyard loop would also be nice, but I don't know if I'd use it.  First I'll shoot it with the new sights, then I'll go from there.
