I was tired of looking at non PSL photos and have decided to start a new thread just for your photos of the PSL-54. Post your photos and if you want, add a description of your modifications.

I 'll go first.

This is pretty much a stock PSL with a Colt folding bipod on the front sight. Oh yeah, and a 7.62 LRT Coastal suppressor. See the end cap on the can, it unscrews so I can clean it out after a day of shooting corrosive ammo...

Here is the AK Salute. Try a spot the PSL

And here they are, spread out...

Edited for Spelling of PLS to PSL

Edited to bold title...dpmmn

I have an NCStar 3-9X on it now on a high rise rail from Kalinka. Going back to a low-rise side rail , as it is impossible to get a cheek weld on it this way. Still a ton of fun to shoot and quite capable of busting melons at 200 yards with old Bulgarian surplus.

Sorry for the low resolution cell phone pics, I forgot to bring the camera

Dude. I love that stock. I wish they came with something like that. The buttstock length on mine sucks and the grip on yours just looks comfy

I need to take some better pictures, but here's what I've got, I'll post up new ones once I get around to taking them.

1976 PSL with 1p21 scope and Harris bipod attached with a sling swivel stud.

It after I first got it home.  I still have all of the little things that came with it including the LPS scope.  The cat I already had.

My cousin shooting it for his first time.

I am very happy with this rifle.  After fixing my mag 'problem' it has been 100% reliable and it has far exceded my accuracy expectaions with Bulgarian light ball especially.  It doesn't look pretty, but it get the job done and definitley draws the attention of others.  On a related note, I have heard many people complain about the stock triggers on these rifles.  I have had no problems with mine at all, in fact my PSL has one of the cleanest breaking 2 stage triggers of all of my rifles and almost everyone who has fired the rifle has commented that they think the trigger helps them shoot better.

Here's mine. Refinished the stock, polished bolt, and changed out that ugly muzzle brake. "Pings" like an M-14 when I let the bolt slam closed. What else do I need? Thinking of a semi gloss black finish.

Wow.  I would love to see some more photos of that wood.  I just refinished my PSL and I was thinking about going darker. Here's a link.

What stain did you use?  Some nice close-ups out in some daylight to get rid of the flash glare would be greatly appreciated.

Good job on your PSL and my vote is to go-for-it on the semi-gloss finish.  I'll be looking forward to see how that comes out as well.

Here's a couple of quick pictures. I took some more, but its hard to get the true color to show in the pictures. The close up of the handguard is what it looks like in person. Here's what I did:
1. remove finish with Jasco paint remover from Lowes
2. Sand with 220 paper or whatever you have
3. For the stain you can use either "Fiebing's leather Dye" (dark brown) or Chestnut Ridge military stock stain. Both seem to give the very same reddish dark color. May even be the same stuff, who knows.
4. After the stain dries I used Birchwood and Casey tru-oil applied with my fingers. gloves on of course. I put it on thick. about 2 coats.
5. Last I took some of the gloss down with Birchwood and Casey stock sheen and conditioner.
Whole process can be done in one day.
Thanks for the interest.
"Edit for flash hider" flash hider is a USA made from a guy on gunbroker. Sells for $40.00. Just type ak flash in the search on gunbroker and it's the one for $40
also think the guy has an add here on the EE, but it's the same price.

This is one of the best 'dark' jobs I've seen yet.  I like that you still get some highlights in the wood.
I wonder what it might look like if you really went at some of the areas with wool while still in the dying process to bring out some more
of the lighter areas?  Almost like a sunburst on a Gibson guitar.

I think I might be one of the only ones that genuinely likes the original blonde wood though.  Not enough light colored rifles out there.

Of course being the hypocrite that I am, I went with the poly.  Not real sure I'm 100% satisfied with that decision, but I made it... and I'll work on it a little more before I take it off.

Here are some semi-decent pics of mine:

No mods yet. When I get the time/funds I will put a polymer stock set on and upgrade the optics (even though I love the one it comes with. I'd just rather have a battery-lit one rather than the expired tritium). First mod will be the trigger though. This thing has a rougher trigger than any of my mosins. And that's saying alot!

Love your handle.  I had an usambara orange tarantula that I named Asmodeus.  Bastard was pure evil!

Thank you for the compliments!

I used the RIT dye method posted by member Hoohaa here.  I tweaked the color formula a little and played with the alcohol ratio.  I'm very happy with the result.
