Yes the early ones were pretty much free of markings.
Most likely an early to mid 1980's import.Very desirable model without all the stampings |

Look on the end of the barrel behind the front sight, should be an importers mark SACO?

I thought it said CAI but it says IA CO SAC CA. I called the guy up this morning, drove over and bought it from him.

Nice 56s-1 UF you did good
I regret selling mine years ago,had the slickest trigger of any AK i have ever owned. Picking up a Polytech Legend UF later this week that is in mint condition and unfired to take its place |

Well, I ended up selling it for $1605. If anyone wants it the guy I sold it to has it for sale on GB for $2750 (buy now $3250)

Yup gunbroker is definitely the place to make a few bucks if you got something rare. Yesterday i bought a magazine with no markings from local gun shop. Was in a G3 mag bin, 5bucks. Looked very nice, blued steel and silver follower. I figured it was chinese as it looked very similar in quality and blueing. Spent 45 min online last night trying to figure out what exactly it goes too. I was very close to giving up on trying to figure out what it was. Anyway found it to be a rare as hens teeth Valmet magazine that sell for an insane amount. Guess where its going up for sale?

All my receiver has on it is, left side 56 and SN# 200xxx, right side F and C and the light barrel stamp.
