View Quote Thanks that's a Indiana Army Surplus upper I had anodized by US Anodizing. After some scrubbing with a wire brush and a sanding pad I thought it looked just right for this clone. Has natural pitting and the port door and forward assist were pitted with rust too. Got the grip and small parts off of a tiger imports kit from Indonesia. Were nice and crusty from tropical conditions! I know someone out there has some cool beat down looking clones! Let's see them! |

Very, very nice. A XM177 clone is very high up on my want list. I can't find one put together or built, guess I'll have to make one. Everytime I find a moderator equipped carbine it is either an A2 or A3. :(

The weathering looks great, The only thing missing are the scratches from the metal hardware on web belts and lbe. The ones carried a lot always seemed to have those. For some reason all of these re-makes on the thread look "cleaner" than what I remember. I don't remember any pitting but a great deal of scratches on the upper & lower receiver. Also, the hand guards/butt stocks were in much worse shape. My hat is still off to you who take the time to research and build these replicas. I am afraid all of the imitated weapons that these resemble are probably either given to enemies of our country or destroyed.

Looks good. You did a good job on that lower. Ball peen hammer, files, wire brushes and steel wool really bring out the beauty! You will want to dent the reciever first to get the authentic look. Oh and hit the barrel and furniture up with steel wool. Also bleach is great at making surface rust!

Just dded a pic of the other side....right place and right time for stuff. It's taken 2 years to find it all. Im in over 3k on this rifle now BUT next too a Class 3 this is as real as it gets for under 30-40K

I just got the barrel back from JT to switch out the double star F marked FSB from JT. He does great work. Came back beautifully new looking with fresh park. Had to scrub the barrel with a sanding block and throw some bleach on it for a couple of days to match it up with the barrel. Looks great now and I don't have to crank the rear sight down all the way to zero. How's this old sun bleached nylon sling. Think it might have been around the world and back. The buckle has no finish at all on it. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj19/tom051876/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-10/C5C37406-83E5-4411-BD33-03B274907C40_zpsts6yfi2c.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj19/tom051876/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-10/AB0A44E4-7A16-492F-8B08-E6CB0B7F0879_zpsmtrjgzvc.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj19/tom051876/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-10/F3BB3224-AB9D-4D65-B12A-7EB67BB986AF_zpshh6hg69l.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj19/tom051876/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-10/8A764CDF-D929-4B92-BBEB-3EA5BD088515_zpsqukqsdj5.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:
