They had leather covers back then, at least mine does. Made from one piece......slip over the ends of the scope.

Been going through the archives working with dates between rifles/scopes. Am I correct in assuming that a first generation thin crosshair "made in USA" Colt scope (64ish) would be appropriate on a 601/602 rifle? Looks like it came out the same time as the 603, but would still be appropriate on a 601/2?
