I recently came into a Webley Mk.IV in .38/200, the British version of .38 S&W.
Attached File I ordered 200 rounds of .38/200 ammunition from Matt's Bullets. Looking forward to seeing how it shoots. The crossbolt safety was added by Century to make BATF import points. (I believe the regs were changed sometime later when it comes to C&R.) Since taking the picture I removed the safety which has left a hole through the frame but you couldn't operate the latch when it was on fire. Out of curiosity, I tried it in my Victory Model shoulder holster and it fits well. Attached File |

I just picked up these two:
Attached File Attached File The top gun is a S&W Model 14-2 with the 3 T's (target sights, target hammer, and target stocks) which appears to date to around 1964, based on the serial number. At some point, it was refinished. The lower gun is a S&W .38 Military & Police Model of 1905 4th Change (commonly called the .38 M&P). It definitely shows a lot of honest wear, but it should, since it was made round about 1920. |

S&W Victory Model, built for the US during WW2. When I bought it the action was full of decades of congealed grease and dirt. The trigger pull dropped by at least 5 lbs. after I hosed it out with brake cleaner and relubed. The action is very smooth and the S&W "Black Magic" phosphate finish is in pretty decent shape. (The Black Magic finish wasn't as robust as parkerizing although it's similar.)
Attached File There's something really nice about how a K-Frame with either the old service stocks or Magnas + a grip adaptor handles. |

It would start off fine and then once the trigger started making the cylinder stop reset I would feel it jerk about or hang up a little until a tiny bit more pressure was added. Then it would go back to buttery smooth It made the trigger pull sort of inconsistent in a somewhat smooth way if that makes any sense at all. Anyways I finally dove into it to polish all the bad out. To my surprise I found it missing that chunk. Tried to lightly polish out the damage but all I did was make the whole thing worse. It feels buttery smooth in DA now. But now the single action is hanging up and running out of time if you try and thumb back the hammer Ive ordered a new OEM trigger and cylinder stop |

When primers were unreliable, the argument was that revolvers were more reliable as a simple trigger pull brought up a fresh round.
Now that factory primers are exceedingly reliable, I'm wondering if revolvers are still statistically more reliable than semi-autos. |

View Quote I think it's gotten complicated in my experience it's mixed Most to least -> Quality service autos (beretta 92 etc.), service steel revolvers (GP100), compact autos (Glock 19) , small revolvers (LCR/J frames), micro autos. But that's just clean high volume shooting. Watch enough shooting videos and it seems like bungling with an auto is almost expected- dropping a mag, drawing an empty gun. Bungling a reload, etc. Ive had some revolver failures that were manufacturing issues or using guns in a way they weren't meant to, like high round count compacts. I've had more mechanical failures than functional failures. I've had the "star over rim" failure only twice, and once was a 22. I've had some silly revolver failures, but I shoot revolvers 9 rounds to 1 vs semis. For example, I think I've lost 3 rear sight blades now? I know at least two. Shoot, I'm currently prepping a 3" LCRx for shooting what are basically an open 2-gun matches. This guns gonna live a hard life. JM Custom Kydex is awesome. |
