Well if casting a wicker basket full of a cobras...to throw the motherfucker who was thinking of remaking Smokey and the Bandit into isn't an option:

Bandit: Clayne Crawford
Carrie: Natalie Zea
Cledus/Snowman: Walton Goggins

Smokey: Jim Beaver
Junior: Timothy Oliphant

Big Enos: Nick Searcy
Little Enos: Damon Herriman

Yes they were all in Justified, and yes it would work.

As a certified connoisseur and expert on the Original Great American Cinema Classic that is Smokey and the Bandit I hereby declare you the winner.

Sidenote: Clayne Crawford really needs more good roles to play. Fan of his work since Baytown Outlaws.

I completely agree with your sidenote that Clayne Crawford needs to be in a lot more things, he's a damn good actor and he also seems to have his head on right.

Hell, I'll even go so far as to commit Arfcom heresy and say that I actually not only liked him better as Martin Riggs than Mel Gibson, but that I think the new Lethal Weapon series has the potential to wind up being better the movies if they don't totally shit the bed when it returns for its 2nd season (since that has happened to many a series over the years, they can open with a strong first season and then nosedive really quickly) and I'm saying that as someone who's seen every Lethal Weapon movie in the theater the weekend it opened so I'm far from a Lethal Weapon hater, I like the movies a lot.

It should never be attempted again, although I'm sure Hollywood would love to fuck it up.

I even drove my TA to the show  lol

Great idea but the guy is quite ill and can barely walk at this point, he might not even survive through to the end of the production

Took my wife to the 7pm showing Wednesday night.  It really looked great on the big screen.

No one can replace Jackie Gleason, or the rest of the cast for that matter.

Worth $12.50 a ticket

No that wouldn't work today, all white. They will have to insert a black person and a Hispanic in two of the four roles unless they can come up with a black Hispanic, a twofer.

Obviously you are a comedy fan, but I really ROST HARD at Artie as BTJ

Edit.... Need a small gal for Frog.

My first thought is: "Don't do it."

If you're going to anyway, might was well make it funny.

Get Pratt for the Bandit and Goodman for BTJ. Just the interaction between those two would be hella funny.

Bandit - Mcconaughey. Or Bradley Cooper if you want to go a little younger

Carrie - Amber Heard or Jennifer Lawrence

Cledus - Billy Bob Thornton

Buford T. Justice - he's irreplaceable, but I guess you could go with John Goodman

Billy Bob Thornton would make a great Buford T. Justice.  Chris Pratt as the Bandit and Jennifer Lawrence as Carrie.  Cledus would be difficult, but I think Kid Rock could pull it off.

McConaughey is a good choice by OP and Witherspoon isn't a terrible choice either.

Maybe Jennifer Aniston??? That seems like a funny/quirky/romantic role that she normally takes. She's still pretty hot too and doesn't look her age.

ETA: there are some really outstanding suggestions in here. If they have to remake the movie or film a sequel, GD is the place to go for casting. Who knew?

Bandit - Viggo Mortensen
Smokey - William Dafoe
Junior - Cillian Murphy
Snowman - Forest Whitaker
Frog - Anna Kendrick
Big Enos - Sam Jackson
Little Enos - Seth Green

A story about Human Trafficking following the interstate serial murderer "Bandit" as he tries to run interference for "Snowman" running a truckload of 13 year old asian girls to NYC in a snowstorm.  Following the rampage and trying to put the pieces together is speedball addicted FBI agent "Smokey" who cares less and less about his job and more about his addiction daily. Smokey's partner is the troubled genius "Junior" who signed up for the job because of his fascination with the macabre. Junior's doesn't notice the throws of dependency in his parter because he chooses to focus on the Badit's gruesome victims secretly hoping that they never catch up with the killer.

Joining the Bandit is the prostitute Claire "Frog" as she learns of his plans and violent past is first apprehensive but then becomes willing partner just as the Bandit is having second thoughts.

Most of my picks have already been mentioned

McConaughy as Bandit
Kunis as frog
McBride as snowman
Goodman as the sheriff
Will Ferrell as Jr

Probably Sam Jackson and Kevin Hart as the Enos(s) as they would need to add some sort of color to get this made and I think they would do a decent job even though I dislike Hart
