I've been following the Oroville Dam thread, but there is nothing about the rest of Jefferson (NorCal). Any ArfCommers in the area?
Don't want to sidetrack that dam thread. I have roots, family and friends in the zone and need updates from the Valley. My GoogleFu Sucks. Or Google sucks. ______________________________________________________________ So what's going on in the Central Valley? Been there, done that, but the few vids I've seen make this look as bad as '86, or worse. Cali members chime in please. For all us ArfCommers, we need to know. Link or lock the dupe. Bonus points for pics and vids. Thank You, Steve |

If we can keep Oroville dam stuff in that thread, and The 2017 CA Floods in this thread, it should work.
I'll post what I just did in the Oroville Dam spillway failure thread: X-Post Copypasta: Quoted:

Pre evacuation warning for Bass Lake. http://abc30.com/news/sheriff-issues-pre-evacuation-advisory-in-madera-county-following-water-release-from-bass-lake/1763942/ View Quote I wonder how many other dams in the state are full to the brim and crumbling from lack of maintenance. That one appears to be in a different watershed area than Oroville. View Quote Don Pedro Dam opening it's spillway (which takes the same path as it's emergency spillway, washing out two roads and flooding a town downstream). CA DWR has successfully managed to eliminate the "Flood Control" reason for the dams existing. That was why they were built, but since they want more people, agriculture, power, (side effects of flood control), they've been saving every drop of water, so now there's a big rainstorm, flooding the rivers, and since the dams are full, they are also forced to release water, making the river flooding worse. The opposite function of the reason they were built. Source for graphic captured above Changes day to day, which is why I stuck in image in thread for future reference. —————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Accuweather, January 7th, 2017 Mapped this out below (Image is from Jan 7), but all of the dams were still storing water instead of making room. This is from BEFORE the late Jan storm that "broke" Lake Oroville's spillway. I'll need to do more data collecting, but I can guarantee that all those dams weren't running the standard hydro outlets at 100% since that map was made, and they should have been. |

Hollister has been flooding about every 4-5 days for the last month. It's sad to see how bad it's getting in my former hometown.
Their police chief is a true badass, and has been personally filling and delivering sandbags in his own pickup. |

What river is it on/which dam is it below, if any? Modesto is the city below the San Pedro Dam which has opened it's spillway gates, and I guess there are smaller towns on the path that wall of water takes. |

Hollister is 45min south of San Jose, 20min south of gilroy.
A huge number of roads around Santa Cruze are destroyed, washed out, or otherwise impassable. |

Don Pedro drains into the Tuolumne River which flows through many small towns before reaching south Modesto. In 1996 - 1997 the Tuolumne River flooded and practically drowned the south end of town. Lots of levee breaks too. Repeat? Maybe.

Near Travis AFB. The grading in my yard is poor, some seepage in to my enclosed patio. Just enough to get the siding soaked. Wensday I am going to have to dig a trench and dump all the water in to the neighborhood school yard lol.

There are levees breached along several rivers that haven't been repaired from the big rainfall they had in the second week of January.
Latest evac: Maxwell,CA Evacuation Rio Linda Evacuation RIO LINDA — Voluntary evacuations and a flood warning are in place for residents along Dry Creek in Rio Linda, according to the Sacramento County Office of Emergency Services.
Dry Creek is expected to overtop its banks between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Tuesday. Any residents in the 100-year FEMA Dry Creek floodplain are advised to take precautions. Homes and buildings within the floodplain are at risk of flooding. View Quote |

Flew into SMF last week, every field and farm around the airport was flooded, the houses along the river were all swamped.
Just about every other exit on 5 and 80 had a "flooded" sign. It's still fucking raining |

Don Pedro Reservoir is currently at 828.2 feet and rising approximately 0.1 feet per hour, the emergency spillway is at 830 feet, if the current inflow/outflow rates continue the emergency spillway will overflow around 7am PST tomorrow morning.

I live in Sac and my parents live in Merced. I visit them once a week. EVERYTHING is full. I fish all the local lakes especially Don Pedro. The Delta is a mess although I've heard the sturgeon bite is on. I may try and fish the Mothball Fleet next week if anyone in the Sac area wants to go, PM me I'm pretty stoked to see Melones fill up.
