People that kill things they don't eat aren't hunters, at least not real ones.
So called "big game hunters" need to get a penis or a bigger truck.

You have absolutely no clue..........I will give you one reason that puts your theory to shame...we harvest predators(bears and wolves just to name two) in order to allow meat animals(moose and caribou just to name two) to breed and increase other wise the predators will and have decimated them to the point of hunting seasons closing...........

Would have been cool to meet my grandfather and watch his coon hounds work. He died before i was born.

Two follow ups:

Ben Lilly.

Sasha Seimel.

Finally somebody else gives Sasha some credit. 300+ Jaguars in a jungle that would be the death of most people, using a spear.

Robert Ruark and his grandfathers would be high on the list for me.  Sometime next month probably I'll be making a pilgrimage to Southport to do some fishing and just walk around where he grew up.

ETA: Captain Edward Hall Adkins and Hanson Kelly Ruark, Robert's grandfathers, were composited into the character of The Old Man.

Probably Robert Ruark and/or Ernest Hemingway. Not because of their hunting prowess but I think that would be one Hell of a fun Safari!

Does Richard Meinertzhagen fit the bill?  Not a PH but he did a bit of hunting.

His life certainly sounds interesting, even though many have claimed he made most of his exploits up.  Many have said the same about Capstick though.

For me I think Frederick Courtney Selous or Karamojo Bell.  Maybe Fred Kimble.  The stories those dudes could tell...

Allan Quatermain. I'd ask him for the location of King Solomon's Mines

I'm reading that book again right now.  Protip: The character of Allan Quatermain was based on the life of Frederick Selous.

Also, mad internet points to the first person without googling who can give me Karamojo Bell's full name.

Ya he'd be great. I wouldn't want to be there for the final shot, but everything before that would rock.

Not gonna read all 4 pages for this but....Who is the german dude with the bolt action that mows down multiple wild boars on the run at 30mph plus then on to the next hog etc.....  Impressive as hell.  I had my german hunting license while stationed there and know these hogs are hard to hit but this guy made a joke of it.  Who was he....id have a beer with him.

ETA:  Franz-Albrecht this dude is sick.

That would be awesome if he'd open up and tell some stories.  He did to Teddy Roosevelt.

So many good choices, and, more importantly, reflections, stated to this point. As for myself, it would be to walk a trap-line with my own Father -- gone 13 years today -- one more time. Only (as this is fantasy) we could walk that trap-line together as men of the same age. It would be wonderful to stop in the middle of a winter-swollen creek and phrase him the question: " Dad, where do we go from here?"....

Absolutely. I should've put him down as a tie.
