One of my living favorites as well. I had the good fortune of being in the same camp with him once in Zimbabwe. He pretty much kept to himself and didn't talk much to those outside his group though. I have heard him speak at some of the Safari Club functions, his spoken stories are not as riveting as the written ones.
ETA: I thought I was quoting the post about Craig Boddington. |

any of the great African hunters. Roark, Capstick, Selous, Bell... etc.
North American Bear, Shockey and the name escapes me but there was a family of Rocky Mtn and Alaskan guides that were known for Sheep. |

First Fred Bear probably, and then John Patterson the guy who killed the Tsavo lions. Both would have some pretty wild stories.

as a bowhunter I'd have to say Ishi and Bear, but who would pass up a safari with Hemingway, or Capstick. Sheep hunting with O Conner would be a must

Daniel Boone, preferably while he was alive.
Lewis Wetzel would be interesting, but if he mistook me for N-D-N, he'd try to kill me and I'd have to blast him for trying. |

Not hunting, but would've liked to spend sometime fishing with my great uncle.

One you've probably never heard of: Leland Samuel Dennis. Back in the 50's, He was in Boone and Crockett for every North American big game animal they listed. Leland Sr. took them all with the same rifle. Leland Jr. was a dear friend. I wish I could have just one more hunt with either one.

Shockey, and I don't mean Jim. Eva Shockey. Sheesh, y'all must be ghey. http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/47/d0/f8/47d0f8030c5688cd49064309b140fc1b.jpg http://www.theblaze.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Eva-Shockey-1.jpg http://www.ab-conservation.com/go/default/cache/file/5B5061C5-A54C-A28B-19F33836D807EA23.jpg View Quote The question was which hunter to hang out with. Obviously none of us would say no to hanging out with a good-looking huntress, but that wasn't the question. |

Boone.
And Lewis and Clark a close second. I think the things they saw and did make anything done in modern times pale in comparison. A virgin North American continent teeming with game the likes of which no one alive today or in the last 100 years ever saw. Yeah I'd like to hear their stories. |

Would have been cool to meet my grandfather and watch his coon hounds work. He died before i was born.
Two follow ups: Ben Lilly. Sasha Seimel. |

Robert Rourk
Edit: However his last name is spelled. I fucking give up. |

People that kill things they don't eat aren't hunters, at least not real ones.
So called "big game hunters" need to get a penis or a bigger truck. |

Am I really the first to say Howard Hill? Arfcomm, I am disappoint. How would you like to be charged by an elephant, side step it, and then down it with a longbow? I wouldn't like to do it, but I'd sure enjoy seeing him do it. http://cf.mp-cdn.net/ae/09/eb101f5f246b9b5e82363c76da3d-was-howard-hill-a-legend.jpg View Quote I admire HH and dearly would've loved to hunt with him, but the elephant he killed (along with most of the other dangerous game in the African footage) was chained. |

I've heard the accusations, but never any proof. Do you have some way to verify those claims? Honest question, if its true I'd like to know. |
