1 cup rice/ 2 cups water. Bring to boil, lower to simmer and cover for 15 minutes. |

IMO, the primary benefits of a rice cooker are:
1. Keeps rice warm and delicious for hours after it's cooked. 2. Doubles as a multipurpose cooker; you can cook all kinds of stews, gumbos, soups and whatever else you can think of 3. Throw rice in, turn it on and walk away. Even as simple as rice is to cook, it takes some minding 4. Frees up a burner for other cooking although it does take up space somewhere when in use and being stored |

Tiger works pretty well. I have this 4 cup, model JNP-0720. It sells for around $100. https://usa.tiger-corporation.com/images/product/01_10.jpg Rice is easy to make but rice cookers are a good gadget, and they free up burners to cook other stuff at the same time. View Quote Correct. I don't have enough burners, at times. And for those that like to cheat, I have fallen in love with the Instant Pot. No, you 420 lovers it isn't an instant grow. It is a pressure cooker and does rice very well. |

I have an earlier version of Zojirushi NSTSC. Caveat: haven't used other models or brands, but can recommend Zojirushi.

Zojirushi.
Anyone that says otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about. A guy I knew from home had a five star sushi restaurant, he spent fifteen years in Japan learning the art. I was having him teach my how to make sushi so I could make it at home. We were making rice and I was learning how, he showed me how to make it and I was hassling him about how complex it was just for rice. He said the two choices were I could go to Japan and spend approximately five years learning the art of rice making, or I could buy a zoji and spend five minutes dropping rice and water and some rice vinegar in, results were the same. They make great rice and all different types.we make thai coconut rice with mango all the time |

I've had a Wolfgang Puc for many years, works great.
And all the rice cooking instructions I've read say to never wash your rice before cooking! |

I had two high end model Zojirushi cookers die on me in 3 years.
I use Tiger now. My wife is from Japan so rice is a big deal in our house. Amazon.com - $69 |

I don't get rice cookers. Too damn easy to do it on the stovetop. That being said, I live in probably the rice-eating capital of the US and most locals can't cook it without a cooker.

The best rice cooker was the Sanyo ECJ-PX50S pressure rice cooker, bar none. That is until Panasonic merged Sanyo's line into their own rice cooker lines, and did away with that model.
Today, it the Zojirushi pressure rice cooker, but you will pay around $200 more compared to the Sanyo. |

I have made macaroni and cheese and also steamed veggies in the rice cooker that we have.
