Magpul makes a metallic PRO buis that I would consider a better product than their plastic offering.

I've got Troys, KACs, and have owned Magpuls. Love my KACs more, by a mile.

The only other set I'd buy would be the Spikes low profile BUIS. A friend has them and they are awesome.

Because the screw is not the same design as the rest of the sight.

I'm not asking about strength, I'm asking about durability.  I know a Troy is stronger than an MBUS, but does it hold zero better with rigorous use?

If the polymer is so damned strong, why do they come with a metal screw to install them with?

Because the screw is not the same design as the rest of the sight.

I'd get an MBUS before Troy.  Honestly, I still won't buy Troy.

IIRC there was a drop test where the Magpul did  better than the Troy.

Aluminum deformation is mostly permanent, where as plastic has some temporary deformation/flex.  MBUS is pretty cheap and pretty reliable.  Buy a good optic and put them on with confidence.

Same. The Pros are really nice and I am going to get a second set but I do think the Gen 2 polymer sights would still win the "throw it down the driveway" test. They are tough.

I ordered a set of the ''Zahal'' BUS from Israel, similar to MBUS, they look very good. They are a dealer in the ''Industry'' section [ or manufac. ]  They were $68 shipped, quickly. They advertise that the IDF uses them, pretty recommendation to me.

Those look good.  May have to give them a try myself.

I have been selling a lot of Ruger's new polymer flip up sights and like them so far. $25 for the front and $35 for the rear.

Lucky gunner did A test a year ago. Troy and diamondback were the worst. Bent on first test. Magpul was the only one who made it though all the tests.

Non-locking design mixed with polymer actually is pretty durable.

This is a joke thread.

Nobody ever considered the plastic Magpul BUIS as being remotely the toughest on the market.

Agreed. I have a couple of the Magpul polymer BUIS sets. Can't say I've ever had a problem with them. I don't go around trying to break them, but I have tested them for what I think could potentially break them. They seem to me like they could withstand most, if not all, of what a quality aluminum sight would. Nagpur probably started making the Pro series because of unsubstantiated outcry from people who just couldn't bring themselves to buy a polymer sight, even having no experience with them.

I have a set of these on my SR-556 and would recommend them as well.

Just jumping in to say Troy can take a long walk off a short pier.

The only thing Troy can make is life long enemies. While others have moved on after the staff threats here, I haven't.

The plastic MagPul BUIS are actually fairly tough. Tougher than some big-name metallic BUIS. For the money MagPul is hard to beat.

The MBUS Pro's are tougher though.

I have one of the rear ruger sights on my AR556, I prefer that and the ruger pistol grip over the MOE.

They're pretty daggone big, is why I never bought any.

I like the smaller metal BUIS options.

BUIS, sound good and all but my eyes have gone to shit so much, plastic, irons, whatever would not matter much.

I will need to go Diane Fineswine 'spray and pray" method of shooting.
