Does YETI not have a patent on their coolers? Those look like carbon copies.

I ask this as someone who owns a yeti as a gift, and would rather get a pelican if I were to get a new cooler.

They are made in China.
Patents don't mean shit.
They offer college degrees in reverse engineering.

I don't think it takes a college degree to reverse engineer a rope handle.

They do it for all kinds of shit.
They were pirating Cisco switches and routers.
Claimed they were working 16 hour days, but had the plant running 24.

if they're made in the US, hopefully they have a big budget for IP lawyers, those look like direct copies of YETI

They aren't, if the verbage about quantity is to be believed.

The rubber latches look like they could be a patent infringement... if that's even patented.

The rope handles too.   Though I'd like to believe the patent office wouldn't issue a patent for that.

That's probably what happened.
Rtic says on their Facebook these coolers are made in China.
If yeti is making coolers (apparently they make the tumblers there) then fuck them.
That's the price of doing business with the Chinese.

My dad is working in that hell hole right now.   They want to buy his companies tools.
He told them sure, I'll sell you 1000 of whatever you want.   They only want to buy one of each.

Pretty positive my tumbler said "Designed in Austin. Made in China" on the sticker on the bottom. That sticker is long gone but I'm 100% sure.

ETA: Just saw you mentioned that in above post.

I LOVE YETI but their prices are fucking  absurd for some foam in plastic.  They do a very good job at keeping ice far from being worth $300!!!

Yeah..... they probably wouldn't have to worry quite as much about being copied if the product didn't cost quite so much. Neat coolers and all, but $300+ for an ice chest is nuts.

u can buy stainless hinges and latches for igloos and colemans. If memory serves me right igloo marine coolers used to have rope hung wooden handles and much better hinges. That being said. SSI had a bad ass cooler WAY before yeti :-/

The cheaper igloo coolers don't hold up well in the marine environment.

You can only replace so many drain plugs, handles and latches before the cheap plastic shells dry rot and deteriorate themselves.

That's why I bought a Yeti. If/when it does I'll probably opt for a cheaper copy but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I have orca high on the list, for made in usa and lifetime warranty....however zero dealers in my AO, and if I have an issue paying to mail the thing is almost as much as a RTIC 20

A hopper 30 makes the best sense for me, but after they jacked the price up to intro the hopper 20, I won't buy a yeti out of principle

And my local store has hopper 30's sitting around like old bagels....so I am not the only one who doesn't need a $350 soft cooler

Nash manufacturing makes a 23 qt.  You can buy it with a padded seat for $139 from walmart.com and have it shipped to the store.  Company is based in Texas and their website says it's made in the USA.

Oh and I fingered a pelican cooler at Walmart.   The hinges
skin your fingers.   Great gun cases though!

The amount of discussion that these fucking coolers get on Arfcom, you'd think it came with a Fleshlight mounting point. It's a cooler FFS

Coleman and Igloo never steered me wrong, but then again I'm not OCD about my the mountains on my beer labels turning blue at just the right time.

Why is wanting a decent cooler for less money a bad thing? If Yeti cut the price in half would you suddenly be a cheap ass for owning one? From the looks of it, these are just Yeti clones with just enough changed Yeti can't sue them. If they hold up, what difference does it make? and how does what someone else buys effect you?

They look like a pretty good cooler.
With that said I noticed very clearly there was zero information on where they were made.
To a lot of people that still means something.
And since there was no mention of place of origin I must assume it's some shit hole east of here.

It was only a matter of time before China started kicking them out.
More Americans fucked out of a job.  Yay!

the xtreme cold line works great and is a fantastic value. No problem for the folks who want to buy yeti but I have had great luck with both of my xtreme cold coolers. Use them camping, on the boat and carry the smaller one on every single road trip I take both business and pleasure. They hold ice for days and seem plenty tough to me. Maybe won't hold up to a bear but that's ok with me since they cost 1/10th as much.

Im in the dairy business. Every year at the world ag show in tulare there are 1 or 2 cute chinese girls there from chinese ag companies. They spend the entire 3 days going down the row of booths and measuring every product as well as taking pictures.

No shame. They dont even try to hide it.

I used to go to that show from 99-2001 or 2002 selling weather stations.
We would have to close up all the gear when they walked by.   They were about the only people we would not sell to.
They would shove people out of the way to get pictures.
One year they were photographing and measuring the damn structure for the displays.
