Like, if someone had a whole-life policy for a long time...
<Title update -NorCal> |
Most will pay after 1 to 2 years.
AD&D generally will not, as suicide is not an "accident" |
Way I heard it no, but I have since heard of the policy being upheld.
Earlier this year the pastor of a guy at work had her husband kill himself in front of her during an argument. Last I heard she did get the policy upheld. |

Many won't. Read you policy.
OP, I hope you're not contemplating a premature crossing of the Styx. |
Pretty crappy way to make your heirs rich.
Talk to somebody about it. |
Depends on the policy. Most have a one or two year period where it doesn't pay.

If you got bad intentions running through your mind, feel free to talk to me or anyone availible
to get you back on the right track. |

My dad's did, even though he blew a hole in his chest with a .45 and it was bc it had been over 20 years since he started the policy. The suicide clause was for only 2 years.
Wont pay out on a drug overdose either. Buddy at work had a older teen son that overdosed, they refused to pay anything.

All the ones I've heard of have. Work and private life insurance.

OP, if you're having issues, reach out to someone. There's a lot of good people here that would help at the drop of a hat. I'm offering up a free ear if you need one.

Where are you in FL? Do you need some help/need to talk to someone?
Your IM box is full. |
yes
if it looks like an accident like single car crash late at night on a country road fall off a balcony at a motel or a party at a friends apartment after a few drinks the list goes on just dont leave a note or make it known what you intend to do |
The policies that I have/ have had did. Both had two year exclusion windows. One would not pay anything during the two year window. The other limited payments during the two year window to the amount of premiums paid.
Dont kill yourself OP, it will cause lots of pain for your loved ones.

Express Pass to the amusement park ride: SWAT Team Beatdown Folks on this board have killed themselves before. Regardless of how much we fight and squabble, no one wants to see anyone else die. If you're hurting and need to reach out to someone, you've got plenty of folks here willing to listen. |

My father told me was going to shoot himself one night but didnt because his life insurance wouldnt cover it
I have to say don't much surprise me anymore that is one fuk'd up way to state an intention
They usually do if after a 2 year exclusion period. They usually won't if one dies doing something illegal. say you shoot your wife dead and then turn the gun on yourself they most likely will not pay
Don't do it. You'll fuck you're family up for generations.
Plus there is so much cool shit in the world. Catching a sailfish, riding a motorcycle, spearfishing, funyuns, Reese's peanut butter cups, an ice cold Corona on a hot ass Florida day, jumping in a 72 degree spring on a 110 degree day, hot girls, guns, corvettes, hanging with an old friend reminiscing. All cool shit. Don't let life get to you. It's hard, everyone has their own problems to deal with too. You're not alone. Get some help. I'm on ambien, I won't remember this in the morning. |

Go start a new life on earth.
Take whatever you have and hitch hike to a new life. Don't ever end it. Ending it is gay. |

Most states have a two year contestability and suicide clause in their policies. Here in Wisconsin.. The policy language is largely regulated by the State. So, if you want to jump off a bridge one day after your two year policy anniversary date? We pay. Edit.... Most people who have ever asked me that question, do so jokingly. However, I can say without exception, based on my 30+ years in this field... No amount of life insurance - no matter how big the policy - will ever fill the hole left in a loved ones life when someone commits suicide. Please talk with someone if you are in a dark place. |
Mine would pay out after two years. No plans on cashing it out that way though.

Op, if you need to talk to someone, lots of people here have open ears
Don't put that guilt on your family. That's a selfish ass hole thing to do. If you are in a hole, dig yourself out. There are many many resources out there to help you. All you have to do is ask.

If this is the cry for help the OP can manage right now, that's great. Any attempt at something positive is awesome. Now people can offer help. Now we can talk about what's going on. I've been too fucked up to ask for help 'properly' before. It's ok. We can work with this. |
