As we remember the Fallen, I hope everyone takes a few moments to appreciate the lives that are lost so we can do the things we can and not to take life for granted. 
And now on with the picture show...Decided to hit up one of the beach areas and set up a nice lil bbq / fun day with the g/f and kids. Have to get out here early to get prime real estate.

My son and I visiting a memorial for all the Ft. Bragg/Pope Air Force Base soldiers killed in the war on terror. Also a picture of my friends cross who was killed 24 November 2014 in Afghanistan.

These are the men I'll be remembering this Memorial Day weekend. I had the honor and privilege of serving with all 6 of these men and consider them my brothers. I deployed to Kosovo with CPT Chandler, SSG Perez, and SGT Rico-SSG PErez was one of the squad leaders in the platoon for whom I was a forward observer, CPT Chandler was the company executive officer, and SGT Rico was in the gun battery from my battalion which deployed with us (Rico volunteered almost immediately and went back to Kosovo for a year-long deployment within six months of us getting home). CPT Piche and I were in the same platoon when I was a PV2 and he was a SGT, prior to him going to college and earning his commission; he came back to Ft. Campbell and took over the same platoon for whom he'd previously been the forward observer. SGT Acklin and I lived next door to each other in the barracks and deployed to Afghanistan together. SSG Deason joined the unit after we got back from Afghanistan; I knew him only briefly before I got out of the Army.

In this pic, I'm the filthy fucking GRUNT, the Swabbie was my best friend. He literally graduated his basic, flew home, and drove three hours to a
ttend my graduation.. Paul was my brother. He died about 05 at the age of 32 from stomach cancer. He left behind a wife, and three kids.  " />

right before an on deck bbq a ch-46 took off and returned with engine problems. 4 guys lost
