Now I may have my issues but my work ethic has never been a problem.
I was just informed that because I tell my coworkers what needs to be done in the absence of our supervisor they have complained. Told me I do good work but to be more subtle and treat them as my family. So is coddling something you guys do at work? |
|
Your coworkers don't want your direction. They may feel they don't NEED your direction.
Don't give them anymore direction and concern yourself only with your work. They will sink or swim. |
|
You have words. You've put them together. I still don't know what you're saying. |
|
Turn off the type A, man.
I have the same issue, I act, react and work like an owner of the company--that doesn't leave a lot of room for niceness. I treat people with respect but am just direct. |
|
|
You're management material there, son. They just don't recognize it. -p. |
|
If you are working as a team, there is a fine line between helping to keep the production flowing and minding your own business.
Teaching someone a better or easier way to get things done is good. Telling them what to do may not be so good. Depends on the job, etc. |

Its the same shit the supervisor would tell them so I dont see the problem. |

If only they'd all do what you say! You've got middle management written all over you.
|
|
Few things will piss off a coworker like someone who is not their boss trying to tell them what to do.
Do your job. If you feel your coworkers aren't doing theirs, tell your boss. |
|
You are the guy who thinks he is a boss...but is not really a boss?
Yeah, folks tend to not like your type much. I have seen a lot of those folks crash and burn. |
|
When you do it right they don't even notice. The message you missed today was management telling you to stop being an asshole.

It empties out the fry bin or else it gets the hose again.
I assume you work at McDonalds |

View Quote I am fortunate in that I usually mind my own business, but my co-workers will ask for my assistance. Also my bosses, and their boss, and the Support bosses, and THEIR boss..... Good news is I have put in for a Supervisor's position (which I won't get, because I have no "leadership" experience) |
|
if you are not the supervisor, you can't act like one. That simple.
Either get a promotion, get sociable, or get a new job. |

I was not " subtle" when I got a management position at lowes home improvement. Being subtle would not have gotten me that position. |

Time to let them fall flat on their asses, document your productivity, and document your "counseling."
They don't want help, so do your job and let them eat shit. Either they pick up the slack, or they find value in your assistance. Either way, you win. And you don't really have to do anything. |

Everyone hates the guy that isn't, but acts like he is. |

Are you telling me I need to post in your thread or are you asking me too?
Don't say shit at work unless their holding you up then let your boss know. Watch what happens and keep your reactions and opinions too yourself. Consider it a social experiment. |

I know who the boss is. Its about making the department I work in look the best it can look so when we get visits from the DM he wont chew our bosses ass and in turn her chew our asses. Also keeping shit organized helps aid in sales and inventory counts. |

It depends on how you come across when you do it. If you act like you're the boss or being bossy, it'll piss them off. I had an incident like that. Worked night shift with two or three other guys, all of us occupied the same spot at the bottom of the totem pole. One guy started acting like he was in charge. It didn't end well.

LOL, best chill out or you'll end up a "team lead". Team Lead = uncompensated low-level management.

This is the age of "feelings" and making sure none get hurt. This is the age when mediocrity is applauded and a strong work ethic is frowned upon by most, even mocked. I'm the same way and I've had supervisors tell me I need to "be more diplomatic". Fuck that, shit needs to get done and being nice about it does not make things happen. |

I was facing a similar issue a few days ago.
I came to the conclusion that I am not being paid to manage and therefore will not deal with the bs that goes along with it. You should take a note from my book. |
|
Would you want to work for a self appointed arrogant prick?
Neither do they. It's not your place to tell anyone what to do if you're not their supervisor. |
|
ignore the fuck out of them. let shit fall apart. Cover your own ass.
|
|
You're so good at it that they don't want you to do it anymore. Gotcha.
|
|
That's how my work flow specialist got where he is today...coddling and covering for his coworkers butts. The end result, a bunch of fifty some year olds with a diluted perception of a real days work who've forgotten they get paid in many cases to do jack squat and complain about how much better the company used to be.my .02, start looking a new job if it's a viable option.

This is typically the point where the OP of this type of thread will abandon the thread.
