What's your typical response time when responding to non emergency runs? Give or take 25 minutes unless I am lucky and near the radio call. Snohomish County was like that long ago. Some of the fun used to be responding to a burg call, and seeing if you could make sparks on impact going over a hill |

What's your most common call? Without a doubt "reckless shooting." Rarely reckless...or shooting for that matter. A couple years ago a neighbor called something like that in (I don't shoot at home and I hadn't heard any shooting that night), and Travis county called us on the phone and asked us to come out the end of our drive way to talk. We walked out and were greeted by half a dozen deputies holding rifles. Nothing unpleasant about the interaction; I just found it strange that they would come out in such force for that kind of call. |

There are many variables that could lead to a response such as that. There was recently passed case law where the word of an annon. 911 RP isnt necessarly enough for the police to take action (that is a very general summary) like it used to be. Not everyone always takes the word of an RP with a grain, or whole truckload, of salt. |

People were already looking out the window at me after making sudden brake, U-turn maneuver. Im sure they knew exactly why I did what I did, I didnt want to confirm it for them...I was also pretty dissapointed that it was only 0100 and the bar was still open. It felt like it should have been at least 03. |

If you saw the owner come out of the bar, drunk, and "drive" his horse down the road, would you pull him over for DWI/DUI? Perfectly legal in Montana. In WA it needs to be a motor vehicle. You can bicycle drunk too if you want, as long as you are not doing so in a manner that creates a risk to yourself or others. There are other statutes for that. Make sure you are wearing a helmet too or you can get hit with a health code violation infraction. |

Why pelican lights over surefire or streamlight? Whats your duty ammo for handgun and long? View Quote I was given a 7060LED as a gift and it has worked great for years. I got a screaming deal on a 2380R and it has worked good as the backup on my belt for about a year. I know they arent "bin 1" LEDs but that have worked well for me. Handgun ammo is Federal HST 147 gr. Rifle goes between Speed and Federal 47gr (I believe). |

Ever see anything creepy on the job? View Quote Ive seen some things that seriously shook my faith in humanity. It wasnt really creepy but the oddest thing I have seen was a man who used to feed rats in his home. He died and by the time we found him he was a skeleton from the waist down. You know, 380 square miles is a square patch less than 20 miles on a side.
Now if the patrol region is 380 miles squared, then that's really something, that is a state sized patrol. |
