Hell yes to cameras! Or if he ends up moving he should make sure to save up a few months of dog shit, and leave it on her lawn before they leave. One final gift

I'd be willing to bet the local PD has a few copies of similar letters on file. They probably know precisely who put that letter on the car.

I think its says:
There are at least 50 houses around you. home should be a place of rest and refugee. there are people around who have small children to the elderly. & young couples starting families. Home should be a place to recharge and enjoy your family thou I love animals and children if they aren't trained and disciplined they will misbehave. its people who don't know what they're doing when they get out of control. there are five families on this street who have continually allowed their pets to disturb the peace, quiet and sanity of their neighbors. these people were reported to the police and the humane society. these people were fined and no longer live in this neighborhood. this is your only warning!!! then people put the rights of pets over the sanity of their fellow neighbors. something is wrong. you brought this animal home, its your responsibility to deal with it or your neighbors are going to deal with you legally. there is no sane reason why anyone should have to listen or put up with this. Enough is enough!!! You have one week! you can be quiet or get out! You want people to like you and be nice to you, you be nice and well all get along fine. you be quiet, clean this place up and keep.... |

Huh. She called the Human Society on them. This implies she is not a member of Human Society.

WOW. Someone thinks they are a bit more important than they really are
|

It would be on if that was my house.
my plan of attack: 1. Cameras 2. Backyard BBQ's with lovely music like lamb of god playing. 3. Get another dog like a beagle that howls to awesome metal music. 4. and completed with walking around in your tighty whiteys with the curtains open on the side of the house of suspected nosy old woman. That should cause her to lose her shit good and proper

your brother should crumple that thing up and throw it in the trash.

Griswald Family Christmas lighting comes to mind. I'd find the most obnoxious Christmas lights I could find and leave them up year round.

1. You don't know it's the old lady. You suspect but don't know.
2. As Bama said, find out the noise/pet ordinances that are applicable. 3. I don't see a physical threat. All I see is a threat to report to the police or human [sic] society or deal with him legaly [sic again]. Still, cameras are a good idea. I wonder what the cops will do when they repeatedly have a noise complaint but, when they arrive, there's no objectionable noise. Who is in trouble, the dog owner or the complainant? |

I'd seriously think about subletting to some meth cooking Hell's angels for a month.

Dang, she's pissed.
I can't help but think that there's a little more noise coming out of his dogs and house than you've been told by him. You know him better than I do, but people don't generally write notes like that if everything's quiet and peaceful. That said, it was a pretty threatening note, and there's no call for that sort of bitchiness. |

I had a crazy irrational neighbor like that one time. She done got herself arrested for not only brandishing a hammer a couple of times, but throwing it at the wrong people. Her family moved out while she was in the town pokey; I wonder if they told her.
The woman that lives to the North of me now is just mean and is not accustomed to someone telling her to piss off. Ask the neighbors if the writing is familiar, or go to the possible perp and ask her directly. I foresee one of these in your back yard: http://www.safetylightsandsignals.com/p-317-action-lite-revolving-beacon-light-halogen-120v-pipe-mount.aspx or these: http://www.safetylightsandsignals.com/p-1163-24-led-flashing-personal-safety-light-magnet-photocell-blue.aspx |

They say "on this street" so it might not be the lady behind them.

Play "Ride of the Valkyries" to her through your new outdoor, waterproof speakers... Assume old people love classical music. Play it a LOT.

I think I would blow it up to billboard size and mount it on a sign in my front yard. Then I'd go about creating a feral cat haven in the neighborhood. I'd also start planting a very pernicious strain of bamboo in random places next to sidewalks. I'd also paint my house purple.
Then I'd wake up from the dream and send my dogs out to get their bark removed. |

i have dealt with the nightmare old neighbor lady. without going into a bunch of stories, i'll contextualize it this way--i would get phone messages demanding that i turn down my stereo...during times when i was out of town. last straw came when she called the police on me for being too loud. when the officer told her that he couldn't hear any activity from my apartment, she told him that the real reason she called was that i had not offered to help her take her trash to the dumpster. and this is a woman for whom i had gone out of my way to be helpful when she moved in.
long story short, document incidents and otherwise ignore her. get officer names, so that if she does make a call and you get a responder at the door, you can say "i've dealt with officer so-and-so on this." odds are, the police already know about this woman, so you (or your BIL rather) want to come across as the good guy who wants to get along with an unreasonable neighbor. i would also make an informal stop by the PD to mention that i had received a "threatening letter" from a neighbor, along the lines of "is this something i need to worry about?" basically, don't feed the troll, and do not allow her to affect your life. deal directly and courteously with the police, in such a way that you're a person to them rather than just a subject. |

Hand deliver a letter stating she is not to trespass on your property.have it video recorded.next time she comes on his land have her arrested for trespassing

the combination of cursive and print along with the font style tells me you are dealing with someone that went to Catholic school and may have been beaten by the nuns (personal experience here). most likely still attends Catholic Church. I would be careful that they don't poison their dogs, (personal experience here) and cameras are a must have.

My brother in law is in his early 20s and just got married less than a year ago. They just recently moved into a house in an old neighborhood. They haven't been there a month. The first week cops show up because he was playing his guitar in the basement. Basement has no windows or doors to outside. I have no idea how you could even hear it unless you were standing beside the house. They MIGHT be louder than you think. Assuming this is true, how would they know WHEN TO STAND OUTSIDE THE BASEMENT TO HEAR THE MUSIC so that they can complain about it? There may be more to the story here than what's posted. |

you happen to know anybody with a pack of beagles?
bullhorn announce "this is YOUR last warning" and then let that pack run around the back yard for a few minutes at least it will flush out the letter's origins |

I'd correct all her spelling mistakes, and stick it back on her door with a note telling her to MYOB.
Then I'd start messing with her like a 12 year old. Fork her yard (as in, hundreds of plastic forks stuck in her front yard, nothing sexual), flaming bags of dog shit on the porch, have all my relatives bring their kids over to play in the yard as loudly as possible at about 4 o'clock in the afternoon while she's trying to watch Golden Girls. Soap her cars windows, and maybe get a sling shot and some fire crackers. |

I think one of the few things GD can agree on is your BIL needs cameras.
