I am heavily inked, I wouldn't hire him with his sniveling attitude.
We get them for the attention, don't whine when you don't get to choose the type of attention you get. |

I worked at a factory a few years ago, this Puerto Rican kid came in looking for a job covered, and I mean covered, in tattoos. My guess is he had quite a few gang tattoos but I'm really not an expert in that area. The owner was thinking of giving him a chance and I was hugely against hiring the kid. We ended up hiring him, and he ended up being one of the nicest, hardest working men we had.

9er fan ...
Lips tattoo on neck ... Life is full of choices. He made them and got those tattoos and the person who didn't hire him made one and didn't hire him. Move along and live with your choices. Get over this 'discrimination' bullshit!

View Quote A machine shop I worked at a couple years ago hired a kid to help out in the paint booth, weld shop, & whatever else needed doing. He wore long sleeves to interview and first couple days. Then showed up in short sleeves with full sleeve tats, no neck or face though. The guy who hired him, who has a few military tattoos himself, said he wouldn't have hired the him if he'd known. Turns out the dude is one of the nicest, hardest working guys you could ask for. He started teaching himself how to weld, then went to tech school for it. And he is pretty damn good at it too. He is easily one of the top 3 welders I've worked with in 24+ years in this trade. He pays close attention to how heat affects what he's working on and adjusts to keep from warping stuff. We've sent stuff to weld that came back straighter than we gave it to him. And the welds look like a machine made them, stack of dimes for sure. I no longer work there but I heard he is the weld shop supervisor now. On the other hand, I have worked with more useless, tatted up, wastes of skin than I could ever count. Stereotypes exist for a reason, but they sure aren't one size fits all. |

If that's his yard behind him I guess starting his own landscaping biddness is out.

My instinct tells me that the guy may just think it was the ink. Regardless of whether it was or not, the saddest part is that his son Ryker is the one that really loses in that situation.... But dad will always be able to prove how important he is to him to everybody else. Even if he can't provide for him.

You get to choose how you present yourself to the world.
I get to take one look at you and make make my estimate of you. I use that first impression to determine how I will interact with you. I really do not have the time or inclination to "get to know" every foolish looking twit I run into on the off chance that they could be a great person disguised as a dumb ass. |
|
I wouldn't hire him because he's older than 10 wearing a sleeveless shirt and wearing a ballcap.

He's looking in the wrong sectors. If he's willing to climb I would probably give him $55K a year to start Monday. I'm prior airborne infantry, not too bright and not scared of heights. $55K you say? I'm listening, go on. Strap on 70 pounds of harness and tools. Climb up a cell tower and fix shit on top. Heights vary from 150-400' and the work is physically demanding, outdoors, all fuckin day long. You get to go out on the road and live in an Extended Stay type hotel room for 6-8 weeks at a time, work is 60-100 hours a week, we fly you anywhere in the US for your "time off" after your turn out and pay to get you back to the site, or a new one. It's a pretty cool gig, lots of neat technology (you have to be half smart to do it) and the ability to move up in the ranks starts immediately. Get good enough and we put you in a nice company truck, driving to sites to check on them for $120K a year. It's hard work but, it's not bad work. Money's good, no time to spend it. The only real downside is that you're on the road for weeks/months on end. It's hard as fuck on a family. Great job for single guys who like to be outdoors and the "brotherhood" feeling of a tight knit crew. |

Yeah the ink on the face and neck is a little much.. and that's coming from a guy who doesn't care one way or the other if you're inked up.

If you're gonna get tattoos get them where they can be covered by your clothing. How hard is that to understand? Also sorry but I can discriminate against you all day for a stupid choice you made.

View Quote You know, it's funny. In my area, when the economy was good back before 2008, construction was a HUGE business. Everybody was getting into the trades (crown molding, tile, paint, cabinetry, etc.). I'd see guys I went to high school all the time around town. They'd be covered in tattoos (neck, hands, full sleeves). Plus they'd be driving around in brand new, lifted F-350s, etc. Well the economy tanked, none of them saved a dime of money and I know of at least a few who moved back in with their parents because they're all unemployed. I guess they all thought the money would just keep coming in for the rest of their lives. |

"He’s proud of them, and they all mean something to him." Yeah. They mean that nobody is going to hire you, dumbass. |

Roach, you need a flare?
No. He's close, man. He's real close. |

if this is true then thats really fucked up . there probably is a decent enough company that would hire him based on his qualifications :shrugs::
"There are certain areas that you cannot discriminate based on,” said Culhane. "So, we're talking about race, color, religion, sex, national origin, as example of those.” That’s why she said employers should make their practices clear. "So, they might want to ask the question up front or they might want to just ask for the policy,” she said. But, Roach said that’s exactly what he did and was told by a manager that it wouldn’t be a problem. "I pulled my stuff up, and I showed them I had tattoos,” said Roach, "and I wanted to be up front, because to avoid wasting my time as well as theirs ... and he encouraged me to take the test and said, you know, don't worry about it." He said he’s never had a problem with his tattoos before and is well qualified and deserves a shot. He said he wouldn’t have been upset if they told him up front. Instead he had to take a day off work and now feels like his time and money were wasted. |

Even in Komiefornia you can get shit about your tats. What a piece of work.

Discrimination based upon the dumb choices you made, not someone you were born with.
I wouldn't trust someone with lips tattooed on his neck with any decision, ever. I show up to get my taxes done and he's the accountant, waking. |
