While in Niagara Falls Canada were in the gift shop by the tunnel under the falls.
The had seal figurines made by the native people.Turning one over I noticed that it was tagged that it was covered real seal skin Later I was in a different part of the shop and noticed a young couple looking at the same figurines. The look on the girls face was priceless when she read the tag. This was back in 1989. |

I know you read this: Our Harp Seal Skins come from Canada's East Coast. The skins are the finest quality of harp seals that Canada produces in a humane animal husbandry environment. The skins are tanned and processed in Newfoundland. We know you will be very satisfied with this quality. But I do not think it is being used properly in this context. I grew up in Canada and have never heard of them being raised. I definitely think these are all wild. |

There are many fur dealers in downtown Copenhagen where you can walk in and buy brand new sealskin coats, right on the rack next to mink, fox, etc. |

Our local craft thingy is the first week of November. There is a lot of seal skin items. My wife has seal skin mittens with sea otter cuffs. They can be shipped down south, but need to have the receipt and the proof it was killed by an Alaskan Native.

I have a few AK native friends that harvest and sell the products made from the animal after the meat and oil has been processed. Not sure about whole pelts but I'm pretty sure it's a possibility. I know he sells hats, gloves, boots, etc, etc.
If you are serious send me a PM and I can see what I can find out for you. I have been given a pelt before but I donated it to make regalia. It was a beautiful blonde color. Also you would be supporting an American company/business. |

Most of the (illegally) imported sealskin products I notice are from the dudes who play Scottish dress up, are for their Sporrans, usually bought at a Highlander store in Calgary and illegally driven across the border. |
