Lately, we have a lot of people who can remember past events; but seem a little foggier on more recent legislative history. So I just wanted to post this here as a refresher. After the Sandy Hook shooting, there was an INTENSE push for gun control. How intense you ask? So intense that NRA A+ rated member Pat Toomer and NRA A+ rated member Joe Manchin joined together with F-rated Charles Schumer and F-rated Mark Kirk to sponsor a gun control bill. So intense that GA A+ rated Senator Tom Coburn sponsored his own universal background check bill that never got a vote. So intense, that Alan Gottlieb of the Second Amendment Foundation came out in support of the Schumer-Toomey-Manchin gun control bill. There was an intense media campaign targeted at Senators (funded by Bloomberg) and the Administration sent its people around to bribe and twist arms. The Senators below are the ones who folded and sold you down the river.
Key: Blue = Democrats. Red = Republicans. Black = Independents (who all caucus with Dems currently). Bold = Senators up for reelection in 2014. Retired = Senator quit office and is not running for reelection. Universal Background Checks - while claiming to be about background checks" this bill included language that would have forced qualified CHLs (who were exempt from the NICS check by the language of the bill as they had already been background checked) to go to an FFL and fill out a 4473 - even though they were exempt from the NICS check and already known to be "good guys." It contained numerous other problems as well; but was supported by at least one RKBA group (Second Amendment Foundation/CCRKBA) and opposed by NRA and GOA. YEA (vote for gun control): Baldwin (D-WI) Bennet (D-CO) Blumenthal (D-CT) Boxer (D-CA) Brown (D-OH) Cantwell (D-WA) Cardin (D-MD) Carper (D-DE) Casey (D-PA) Collins (R-ME) Coons (D-DE) Cowan (D-MA) Donnelly (D-IN) Durbin (D-IL) Feinstein (D-CA) Franken (D-MN) Gillibrand (D-NY) Hagan (D-NC) Harkin (D-IA) Heinrich (D-NM) Hirono (D-HI) Johnson (D-SD) - Retired Kaine (D-VA) King (I-ME) Kirk (R-IL) Klobuchar (D-MN) Landrieu (D-LA) Lautenberg (D-NJ) - Retired Leahy (D-VT) - CHAIRMAN OF THE SENATE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE Levin (D-MI) (Retired) Manchin (D-WV) McCain (R-AZ) McCaskill (D-MO) Menendez (D-NJ) Merkley (D-OR) Mikulski (D-MD) Murphy (D-CT) Murray (D-WA) Nelson (D-FL) Reed (D-RI) Rockefeller (D-WV) - Retired Sanders (I-VT) Schatz (D-HI) Schumer (D-NY) Shaheen (D-NH) Stabenow (D-MI) Tester (D-MT) Toomey (R-PA) Udall (D-CO) Udall (D-NM) Warner (D-VA) Warren (D-MA) Whitehouse (D-RI) Wyden (D-OR) ETA: Also, Harry Reid voted against this Bill; but made it clear that this was for procedural purposes only (so it could be brought back up later in the session) and that he did support the bill. |

PA is so fucked this fall. Even our Republican senator is voting for gun control

Harkin is quitting. Finally we can get rid of that POS. I know I'll vote for Ernst, Braley is a d-bag.

Clairebear (McCaskill, MO) doesn't surprise me one bit.
I am, however, worried to hear a local rumor that she may replace Holder. For those of y'all old enough to remember Reno, her politics are close. |
|
The two from MI nearly always vote on party lines. I had no doubt that they would vote for any form of additional restrictions, despite the canned emails they send out touting their support for the 2A.

WA Senators both are a bunch of socialist scumbags. I can't believe sheeple vote for and believe the BS they spout. Every election year when one of them is up for reelection, same play book. Help the little guy, veterans, fixing inequality, women's health, helping those in need, education and Handouts. blah blah blah. LIARS.

One thing to keep in mind, if you vote for a Republican gun-grabber like Mark Kirk of Illinois and the Republicans get the majority, you get a Senate Judiciary Committee (the Committee that oversees nominations of Justices and Federal Judges and oversees gun legislation) composed of a majority+1 of NRA A-rated or better members. If you vote for a pro-gun Democrat like Max Baucus (retiring; but great record) and the Democrats get the majority, you get a Senate Judiciary Committee where the Chairman is one of the gun grabbers listed above and the remaining members are all NRA F-rated. And the sad thing is having Leahy as the Chairman is a plus; because his replacement would be Chuck Schumer. This guy gets it. Look at the big picture. Thank you. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1670998_These_Senators_Voted_to_Ban_Semi_Auto_Firearms_in_2013.html&page=2#i49601903 https://www.nrapvf.org/grades/new-hampshire/ Marilinda Garcia | NH-02 Primary Election: September 9, 2014 (Won!) She is a fierce opponent of big government. As a state legislator, Garcia voted to cut taxes and never voted for a budget that increased spending. She even voted against a regional Cap-and-Trade scheme that her opponent supported. In Garcia, conservatives have a principled candidate who they can trust. Race Details New Hampshire’s Second Congressional District is tough soil for a Republican to win. It’s currently held by a well-funded liberal Democrat, and Obama carried 54% of the vote here in 2012. Still, New Hampshire is a state known to be friendly to fiscal conservatives. With the right candidate, this seat can go red again. http://www.clubforgrowth.org/elections/pac-endorsed-candidates/ |

Toomey is a firebrand fiscal conservative who votes 90% against the DNC and Obama's failed policies. No gun control will make it out of committee with a Republican Senate majority. Unfortunately, in addition to criminalizing sales, gifts, trades of private property, Toomey also supports ENDA. Toomey isn't running in this election. 1 more month. Early voting starts soon. Get everyone registered. VOTE NRA endorsed REPUBLICAN. Get every politically naive fence sitter, hand wringer and american idol procrastinator to the polls early. DNC leftwing liberal trolls are out on the internet in full force trying to demotivate NRA endorsed support and votes |
