Yes, it is.

I typically pour it in a glass.  Pour out 3/4 of it, stir the bottle to reincorporate what has settled to the bottom, then pour the rest.  If I do drink it from the bottle I spend some time rotating the bottle to stir in what has settled to the bottom before I open it.

Most Germans that don't live in Dusseldorf think that Dunkel is "Dirty River Water".  I tend to agree but am not German.

A beer stein would be great to have but until I get one I drink it from a glass like this.

Taking it out of one glass vessel and putting it in another glass vessel somehow changes the flavor?

Try just pouring it straight from the bottle then look at the bottom of the empty bottle.  It won't be empty.

Wine for sure changes flavor when you decant it.  The air causes oxidation changes.

Some beer reacts similar.  The act of pouring stimulates the CO2 to be released forming the head.  At the same time air also enters the beer.  The traditional pour technique of hefeweizen causes both.

I prefer it in a glass but will drink from the bottle if there are none available.

Taste is primarily based upon your sense of smell.  You don't get much of that out of a bottle, whereas a glass promotes head formation, which releases volatile molecules, and it has a larger opening.

So yes, it absolutely does.

ETA: If you think it's some kind of witchcraft, try this.  Pour yourself a decent beer into a glass.  Then, hold your nose and take a sip.  Release your nose and take another sip.  If you can't tell a massive difference, it's time to cut down on that 2 pack a day habit.

As I take a drink, I'm not breathing in through my nose.  Therefore, the only source of flavor is from the beer in my mouth.  And if you think you can taste a difference, then try this:  Take the beer that you poured from one glass container and pour it into a glass.  Now take that second glass container and pour it into yet another glass container.  Will you taste a big difference or does the magic only happen once?

That stuff is awesome...I love all their different kinds, but the hefe is my favorite.  You know to pour half the bottle, lay the bottle on its side and roll it a little (slowly!), and then pour the rest right?  That's the only way to get all the flavor.

Pouring a beverage into a glass is not work.

Spending 30 seconds understanding why you might want to do so is hardly an onerous task either.

At the bottom of every hefe weiss is a layer of yeast.  The yeast must be stirred up and poured in with the rest of the beer inside of a  glass.

So yes, it changes the flavor.
